Christmas of 2012
Hello everyone! I hope you had a Merry Christmas. We had ourselves a wonderful time during the Christmas season. It was Christmas with my side of the family this year. Mom and Dad were here as well as my sister and her entire family for a grand total of 22. Even Seth was here after being gone to Manitoba for over a month commercial ice fishing. It’s a family joke, Seth’s rather non-talkative nature. So, Serenity drew this image before ironing it onto a shirt for Seth. On Oscar the Gouch’s trash can it say’s, “You talkin’ to me?” Christmas Eve we had an informal Asian meal. We sang some hymns, played some games and watched…

Winter Craft Idea: Decorating Candles with Christmas Carols
I don’t know if what I’m about to post really is a craft but hey, it did involve the Paper Cutter and Tape so let’s pretend it is, okay? I saw this idea the other day (maybe on Pinterest?) and thought it was so cute. It’s such a simple project. It took me less than 5 minutes. I had some vintage looking Christmas music I had saved from another project that ended up being a big Fail…:( Isn’t the cover adorable? …so I took that and used my paper-cutter to cut the music to the size of the candles. And here’s where the tape came in to…

Resurrection Cookies – A Hands-On Way to Learn About Jesus’ Death, Burial & Resurrection
This Sunday will be Easter, a time to remember the greatest moment in history – Jesus’ resurrection. Have you all ever made Resurrection Cookies with your children? It’s a great way to teach your little ones the story of Jesus’ last days on earth and then his resurrection. We made them (Resurrection Cookies) for the first time last year and the kids are looking forward to making them again. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. (Mark 16:6) Here the other day, a doctor said, “I…

A Nature Inspired Christmas Tablescape
We had Christmas with mom and dad here at my house. Ten of us. Pretty small since we normally have my sisters and their families but things just happened to work out that way this year. Since I didn’t have any Christmassy dishes, I decided to go with a tablescape that had more of a nature look. I decided to use a toolbox my boys had made when they were little as my centerpiece. I filled the toolbox with some juniper branches, poked some red material around the base of the branches, added a poinsettia and a bit of cranberry garland. I loved how it turned out. For our Christmas Dinner we had: Grilled…

Our Christmas Tea with Mom
Hey, Hey! What a holiday season it has been! Activities and family… so much going on. While mom was here over the holiday season, we had our “tea” with the china tea set she gave me. A special drink for the non-tea drinkers. We’re not fancy when it comes to having our tea, we just like the thought of having one, but I thought mom looked pretty cute in her borrowed hat. Any kind of hat attire is appropriate at our teas. 🙂 Hmmm, let’s see we had a proper hat but then we also had a pirate hat, a sombrero and some waving mistletoe perched over Serenity’s head. Tea…
