Our family life - daily life updates

  • The Wedding of Seth & Jessica

The day of the wedding was cold at 21°F but bearable for those of us from Arizona… if you dressed in layers. That is the secret I have learned after almost freezing myself a few times up there which I may have or have not mentioned several times before now! Some things about visiting the Great White North in the middle of winter sticks with you. 🙂 Serenity and another young lady were the guest book attendants.   Justus was an usher and Audrey was an attendant handing out programs. Waiting behind the scenes. Jessica (my new daughter-in-law) was raised on a ranch where they have several thousand head of…

  • A Rehearsal Dinner of Soup and Salad

Popping in here on the morning of the wedding to write this post. Sleep has escaped me for some strange reason. 🙂 Rehearsal dinner is over and today is Seth & Jessica’s special day! Serenity, myself and another Castle Keeper young lady (who traveled with us from AZ) made all the soups and desserts on Thursday. These girls worked hard and I was very proud and thankful for them!   They also couldn’t resist the chocolate frosting. Official tasters which I thought that was my title. Hmmm   I was so thankful that everything for the rehearsal dinner went so well. Having help is so important and my family did…

  • A Simple Valentine’s Day Tablescape

♥ I interrupt our regular India trip reports to bring you a simple, inexpensive Valentine’s Day tablescape. ♥   I cut a long piece of butcher paper (you can buy a large roll at one of the bulk warehouses) and just painted red x’s and o’s all over it.   A tribute to India at Serenity’s place. (carved elephant she brought home as a souvenir)   For the first time in 27 years of marriage we had rib-eye steak. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve ever bought any kind of steak before. Ninety-nine per cent of our meat consumption is elk that we have hunted. It was a big treat…

  • Why I Want to Declutter This Year

It’s January 23 already? How quickly this month has flown by! Serenity leaves this Friday on a special 2 week trip. She’s flying to India  where she will meet up with some family friends who will be with her until it’s time to return back to the States. She’s excited and at the same time a little bit nervous about going.   Seth’s wedding is only 34 days away which means I have to get a mother-of-the-groom outfit which causes me no end of grief! And I have to get something for my hubby and daughter to wear. Oh dear! These are the kinds of things that stress me!  …

  • Sharing the Gospel Boldly

Sorry to be missing once again from my blog but it has been yet another very busy week. We are currently in the high country on our annual ski trip that we take. Today is a relaxing day for me as I decided not to go skiing. It’s been two years since I’ve went (last year I had vertigo and couldn’t make it) and my leg muscles were letting me know it. It’s such a fun sport though. Here is the large group that went this year (missing some). We kind of dominated the mountain. 🙂   One of the things that makes us stand out so much is all…
