What Difference Does a Cup of Tea Make?

I have fallen in love over the years with the season of fall.

Fall is the delightful time of year when the weather starts to have a bit of nip to it, when  plants and trees change the color of their leaves until finally they shed them as they prepare for their winters rest.

It is also when first fires are made in our wood burning furnace to take the chill off the house in the morning when we all awake.

It’s so fun to cozy up the house for the cooler weather. Fall decor with its oranges, browns, and yellows are used to bring in the season along with other things that unmistakably speak of the changing season.

When I imagine a great start to my day, I think of myself sitting by the fire with a cup of hot tea, a pair of warm socks on (my feet get soo cold!), a comfy throw close by, (I would absolutely love to have a cashmere throw like this one from Parachute.),  reading or talking with my hubby.

It just seems to give the day a more relaxed start which is a refreshing change!

It takes time to establish changes in your routine and it wasn’t until last year that I started practicing this little ritual as much as I was able.

My husband started joining me and then pretty soon the kids did too. Time for us to chit chat and greet the morning.

Reflecting on this as I write, it reminds me that small moments like these make beautiful memories that will warm the heart in later years.

Family life is constantly evolving. We must take advantage of the simple, uncluttered moments that come our way and it could be as simple as starting with a cup of tea.

Do you have any early morning rituals?
