This past Saturday we had a different kind of dinner here at the ranch. It was a farewell dinner for friends that our kids have almost all grown up together with. They’ve been with us through all our homeschooling activities, the Castle Keeper club, and the list goes on. So it wasn’t really a celebration but a dinner in honor of, since it’s kind of a sad time for all of us here. We’re happy for them but also sad that they’ll be moving 2,000 miles away.
Because we were doing hamburgers/hotdogs, I decided a cowboy theme would be fitting.
The chalkboard sign is written in Spanish and says, “Until Later, my friends.”
Remember when I rescued that furniture from the burn pile my son brought home from a future rental he had purchased? I decided that maybe I could use this piece Saturday for holding our drink cups. So we gave it a good presser hose washing.
And here she is all dressed up.
Look at that view. With all the rain we’ve had recently, everything is greening up!
I purchased handkerchiefs for the centerpieces, wrapped a Mason jar with a piece of red and white checked cloth and stuck a little paper that was printed with the word “Blessings” into the fabric. I used white daisies and these white flowers but I’m not sure of their name for all our centerpieces.
The ladies from church brought the sides and the desserts so this made it pretty nice for me. 🙂
We had to have an honorary fire in honor of our camp lumberjack who ALWAYS provided enough wood for our hunting camps so that myself and others could stay warm and have campfire memories. I’m not sure what I’m going to do now. (whimper, whimper)
Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean we’ll miss you until we meet again.
Vaya con Dios!

Oh my! How you do things up to the tee! Beautifully done and what a treasure to remember! We sure were all very shocked when we heard they were moving (and no one from here pulled on them). Feel bad for all of you there though as I’m sure that’ll be a big hole to fill. Praying for all of you. A tough summer and we love you all very dearly!!!!

Thanks, Lucille. It was simple decorating but fun to put together. I guess you all were just too good to them. lol

Beautiful and sadly sweet dinner. =[ Trusting the Lord that He will comfort your hearts.

Audrey (teasing) says, “You know why they’re moving? Because Courtney found them a house.” 🙂 I hear you all will be neighbors. I’m sure they are going to love being around all you wonderful people. Russell calls it the Promised Land out there – where everyone wants to go. haha

Yah well, I certainly did NOT want them here if the Lord did not want them to be here. And I said so. Wanted them to stay and bloom where God had planted them in AZ. And know they have sought the Lord’s Will. And it appears that the Lord has a Plan that we don’t see right now. I’m sorry Audrey. I know its sad when friends go elsewhere.
Don’t think this is the “Promise Land”. Rofl. I’m looking Upward!

I love your “waterin’ hole” set up!

Thanks! For our napkins, we used the little wagon that your dad built years ago for Pioneer Day.
