October Family Updates Part III – Coues Deer Hunt
We’re getting there. Slowly but surely we’re making it through the family updates for October. Part I was general news around the homestead and Part II was our annual elk hunt.
The third week of October was another hunt – this time for Coues deer. It was Zachary and Ethan’s hunt. (Ethan is my good friend Tina’s son.) Ethan has wanted to go elk hunting for a very long time but getting an elk tag in Arizona is not always that easy. So, he settled for a Coues hunt with Zachary.
Apparently they didn’t put in for a very good area and never did shoot anything but they did have a good time. At least that’s what they told me. 🙂
I didn’t go camping but Ethan’s parents did; Tina was the camp chef.
The views were gorgeous (looking through the spotting scope)…
…and quite interesting
when they weren’t sleeping… Doesn’t it look so comfortable?
Evening time… a few games and some good food before crashing for the night.
Memories that will stay with them for a lifetime… even if the big one did get away. 🙂
Updated to add: Be sure to see Seth’s elk he got this year and Wesley’s beautiful mule deer.

Your hunting trips always look like grand time!

Such beautiful country! And you didn’t have to process any deer this time! Hopefully, your freezer will be filled to overflowing on another hunt.

Oh Lily, I don’t know where I’m going to put any meat. My freezers are full! We even have some meat at my sister-in-laws.
Lily
Lol! I love it when the freezers are full (and organized)! Sounds like you’re ready to feed more company.

Hey I remember that song!
Elisabeth
Yes, that was just what I was referring to – the song. We used to sing it so loud when we I was younger and I still do sometimes. I only know a few lines. Should learn more…

Looks like fun 🙂
You are such a great writer!
