• The Castle Keepers and Castle Defenders Learn Some Tae-kwon-do Techniques

Why would anyone have chocolate covered espresso beans sitting right next to their computer if they didn’t want to be tempted, I have no idea. And I have succumbed to the temptation. They’re a little weird tasting but addicting and I’ve popped several into my mouth since I gave in.      Sigh. Heed my warning and don’t, seriously(!) don’t place anything chocolate within arm’s reach 15′, 30′, 50′ of you if you really don’t want to eat it. You’ve been warned! But if you do not listen you may want to try and make up for it by getting outside and practicing some Tae-kwon-do moves. Huh, you say? That’s exactly…

  • Christmas 2015

Happy New Year! 2015 is here already. It sure did come along fast! We had an amazing holiday with family. Twenty-nine of us were gathered here at the ranch for 5 days. No, my house isn’t a mansion but when you have people willing to be stuck into every nook and cranny, it works. Russell and I spent our time in the laundry room and I had a sister and her husband stay in our new pantry. Headspace at night for them was a little low (they were partially under the bottom shelves) but they had a little heater in there along with a small lamp and it actually looked…

  • Stylin’ Hair with the Castle Keeper Girls

Since it’s been a few months since I updated you on what our Castle Keeper girls are doing, I thought I’d share what they’ve been doing the last month with you today. In October we met for a Hair Styling Clinic. The girls learned how to care for their hair and how not to brush all their curls out once its been curled, how to use a curling iron as well as several different hairstyles. It was a very informative class. The girls were inspired and I’ve been seeing and hearing of them trying new “do’s” since then. October’s Monthly Challenge was to make an invitation using fancy lettering as well…

  • A Recipe for Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

Here’s a Pumpkin Chocolate Chips Bread recipe from The King Arthur Flour Baker’s Companion that I tweaked to make it more healthy. A slice of this with a cup of Tension Tamer herbal tea and you’ll be set to start your day off right. And it was needed this weekend. On Friday evening my son entered the Calf Riding competition at our local fair. He didn’t stay on long but while on on the ground the steer stepped on his leg and split it open. Of course, we didn’t know. All we could see was that his pants were torn a little and he was bleeding a little. But we…

  • A Never Complete List of Things To Do With Your Child At 5 and 6

Recently I wrote a post about the pressure many of us feel to start our child’s formal education when they reach 5-6 years of age. I asked the question of why, at this point, do we feel we need to get formal with their education. Many times, especially if they’re boys, they are just not ready to sit at a desk for extended periods of time. But most mom’s do it anyways because of many possible reasons. Before I rewrite that post once again, why don’t you just go ahead and read it? 🙂 So today I want to give you a incomplete list of things your child can learn…
