• A Couples Dinner Party

I like small intimate dinner parties. I don’t get to host them too often as I’m usually hosting or planning a large event here at the house and if I want any quiet time at all I have to refrain from filling all my days  but I did it for my son and daughter-in-law who were here from Canada and it was so much fun. It was not supposed to be a Valentine’s dinner but it was a couples dinner and it was near Valentine’s so it evolved into that sort of party.   The name cards were made by my daughter. I loved how she stitched the name to…

  • An 80th Birthday Celebration

We were so blessed last week to travel to Illinois to see my parents and to celebrate their 80th birthdays with them. They were both born within a week of each other.   My sisters and myself, along with the youngest child in each family all went to celebrate with them. What a sweet time we had together.   I love where my parents live. It’s a small town but they live in the countryside and Autumn is so pretty there.   I don’t see many colored leaves here at my house, so seeing the beautiful tree they have in their backyard with red leaves was beautiful to me.  …

  • A Farm Themed Potluck

Nine years since our church moved into our new church building. It’s hard for us to believe. Having a dedicated church building is a wonderful privilege and blessing. Through my childhood years and even after we were married, I’ve had church many times in the living rooms of fellow Believers but there’s nothing like having a place set aside to worship the Lord each week and I am very thankful for ours. To show a little friendship with visitors who come during this weekend, we like to have a church potluck on the Saturday of our meetings and most always we have the potluck in our backyard. Now I would…

  • Kayaking Watson Lake and Viewing the Vistas

By the time you read this post we’ll be down at the bottom of Havasupai. Our 3rd time to trek in to see this most beautiful place. We’ve had people flying in since Thursday and this time we did something we had never done before and that was to visit a local place called Watson Lake where we rented kayak’s.   It was quite enjoyable. Although they do not prorate the rentals, I think 1 1/2 hours would be ideal. It’s not a large lake.   There’s also a walking/bicycle trail that goes around the lake.   Of course, we had some climbers in our small group. 🙂    …

  • A Wedding Reception in a Barn – So Chic

The reception for Luke and Zoe was held in a newly built barn. Apparently, the original barn had been destroyed in a fire on this working farm and the owners rebuilt and used it for their daughter’s wedding and are now going to rent it out for events.   It was a lovely venue, so beautiful inside that decorations were hardly needed. Before the reception started, there was appetizers at the back of the barn. A lovely drink station was also stationed here.   Nut breads, crackers with cheese and meat along with fruit was served on top of pallets piled one on top of another. I didn’t get there…
