Trips We've Made

Our trips

  • When Family Vacations and Adventure Meet

For some a family vacation means relaxed times, togetherness and memories being made. For us, it means adventure, nerve wracking situations, togetherness and lots of memories. The thought was a grand one. Let’s have our first ever vacation with our married children and their spouses. We knew we had only a short window of opportunity since Seth & Jessica would be headed back to Canada. Life was quite busy with giving them an Arizona reception, then I was unwell and so we waited for the right time. Lake Powell was the first destination of choice but the weather turned cold and we had to go with Option B which was…

  • Unusual Jobs You May Have Never Heard Of

Hello there! Any plans for this weekend? We’re going to be busy preparing for guests who will be with us all week. I had someone comment on the post Winter Fun in the Great White North that they would like to see more of the area where the people live. So I thought I’d create this post linking to the posts I wrote a few years ago that I think you’ll find interesting. Seth has been working in Canada now for several summers & winters. In the summer, he does minnowing.   During the winter time he has been doing commercial ice fishing. One year we went to see him.…

  • A Group Hike to Vultee Arch

Wait! Don’t leave. You are not at the wrong place. This is still Treasuring the Moments but I have a new look. Yay! I’ve been wanting to change some things around for awhile and finally got to it and after a fair bit of time and some frustrating moments, it’s up and running! If you see some more tweaks to my home page, it’s just me working behind the scenes trying to fix a few things. Spring has sprung and with it hayfever. It’s been pretty awful. I’m just glad I had a lot of tissues already purchased and on-hand because we’re going through them! We took a little hike…

  • Country Roads Take Me Home

And here’s the final post wrapping up our recent trip to Canada for my son’s wedding to the “rancher’s daughter” in Canada where they drive on frozen lakes, have bonfires on the ice and do ice fishing for sport and profit. If you think that all sounds fun, you are right. It is lots of fun. Other than the fishing. I wouldn’t know anything about it…   Except that it is fun to see how it is done. (after drilling through the 3′ thick ice, the gill net is pulled up from the ice)   And especially when the person showing you is a true fisherman who enjoys it to…

  • Falling in Love

I fell in love while I was in Canada.   It was rather surprising actually…   because it caught me completely by surprise.   I would never have expected it.   But this little energetic, squirmy Jack Russell Terrier puppy just wiggled its way right into my heart.     He was zipping around bursting with life and enthusiasm over whatever little dogs think is worth zipping around for.     But he does have an important job and one I had no idea dogs did.   You see, he’s a mouser for this sheep barn. Cats carry too many diseases for them to be around the livestock, so little…
