Trips We've Made

Our trips

  • Crabbing in Newport, Oregon

We felt so incredibly lucky to have accommodations right next to the ocean once again. This time we were staying at a Wyndham time share and resort but we didn’t have to use our points because they have some kind of plan where you can purchase the rooms when they are in the off-season – which we did to the tune of $48/night. Can you imagine? That was the most amazing thing that happened on this trip, I think. We had a 2 bedroom condo for $48. I love it! The kids were ecstatic to be able to go play in the ocean to their hearts content… and then go…

  • An Off Road Foray and a Stop at Coastal Mist

Being born and raised in Arizona on the hot burning sands of the desert (not really but that’s the image most have of AZ), my kids love the ocean…. even when it’s not the nicest weather. Out hotel at Gold Beach, Oregon was located next to the ocean and the kids were so excited to run in the water and try to escape the larger incoming waves.     We left Gold Beach and continued on but we didn’t get very far before one of my dear children (Serenity) mentioned how fun it would be to climb this large rock that was sticking up out of the edge of the…

  • Visiting the Coastal Redwoods

Traveling up the west coast in November makes you remember why there is such a thing as the off-season. It has been cold, rainy and wet. We are headed to Vancouver for a family friend’s wedding and now, by the time this is posted, the wedding is over and we’re headed back home. we are home. We were able to visit with family and friends on our first stop and then we continued on to Clear Lake, California. There was a lovely area on the lake where we stayed the night. The dock went out over the water and you could fish if you were so inclined…     or…

  • A Non-Sterling Experience at Sterling Restaurant

Sometimes the spice of life is the unexpected and other times the unexpected brings the worst kind of surprise. That was the case when we went to visit my parents recently and dad was taking us to breakfast after our plane landed. Bob Evans was supposed to be where our stomachs received their first nourishment but dad couldn’t find it. But he did see a sign that said “Breakfast All Day” and his car whipped right into that parking lot. We gave each other questioning looks as we pulled into our parking spot since the sign and grounds looked a little in disrepair but hey, our papa wanted to eat…

  • A Third Trip to Havasupai – Day 4

Friday dawned and our group started hiking out of Havasupai in small groups as they were ready to leave.               For my nephew, Russell and myself, we stayed a little longer because we were riding the horses out of the canyon. Russell’s ankle was still giving him some issues and Enoch had turned his ankle while at Havasupai. So, I joined them. 🙂 $85 one-way and you are allowed to carry a day pack.     They said it would take 2 1/2 hours to get out of Havasupai…   …but it only took us 1 1/2 hours as we trotted and galloped our…
