Our family life - daily life updates

  • Audrey’s Visit to the Hospital

I think it was providential that our night didn’t go as planned last week. You see Audrey has been sick. It all started February 6 when she had her first fever. Thinking it was something that would pass, we weren’t too concerned about it but then when a week passed and she was still not better and she was staying in bed all the time, we thought it might be pneumonia. We took her to the doctor and they said, “Yes, something is going on in her chest.”  Prescribing her antibiotics we then went home and thought she would be better soon. She wasn’t. No energy, no appetite along with…

  • The Night Things Didn’t Go As Planned

Which picture best represents your life? This one that is orderly and perfectly manicured… or this one in it’s wildness – maybe somewhat planned but a little impossible to keep contained in a nice and tidy way. As you probably know by now, my life is not picture #1 but #2, a very unordered life that is impossible to control and to keep in a nice orderly box like some. Case in point was Tuesday night. We have been planning a trip to Canada for 2 months. The departure day had arrived and our plane was not to leave until midnight. We had all day to get ready but for…

  • A Hike With Incredible Sights is the Best Kind of Exercise

Like a child facing the prospect of eating a vegetable they detest, I contemplate the thought of my personal nemesis… exercise! It brings out the worst traits in me. Traits like procrastination, lethargy and excuse making. “I can’t do it right now. I’ll do it later.” “I don’t feel up to it today. I’ll be sure to do it another day.” “I’ve got too much going on. There’s nooo wayyy  I have time for exercise, too!” But when I do get outside and take a walk in the beautiful morning air or late afternoon sunshine it is rejuvenating and refreshing. It changes my outlook and actually gives me more energy.…

  • A Collage of Days

My sister tells me I need to get posting. I don’t think I’ve had been in such a writers slump since I began my blog oh, so many years ago. “Nothing too heavy,” says the same sister. “Your last posts have been on the heavy side. I like pictures.” So here we go. Snippets of my life from the last several weeks as captured by pictures.   Some visitors were wanting a picture of our family so I decided I needed one, too. So often these days, one is gone here or there, so to have everyone together is pretty nice. The Castle Keeper challenge in January was photo themes.…

  • Sometimes It’s the Little Things…

Although there were many things that needed my attention, I had to rely completely upon my husband and children to help me for the last few weeks. For several days, I couldn’t move around much and then other days, I was unable to do the simplest of things like empty my dishwasher because bending over would bring on dizziness and nausea. Vertigo – the state of feeling like everything is spinning, which causes nausea and a loss of balance.  That is what I have been experiencing for most of the last 2 weeks. It was not fun, I can tell you. I went to bed perfectly fine one night and…
