• Americal Girl Skirt Look-Alike

Serenity so impressed me last week when she made a skirt for Audrey, using an American Girl doll skirt as her inspiration.  She used left-over material from a jean skirt she had made for herself.   You can’t see it in this picture but on the doll’s skirt, hidden behind that fold is an embroidered heart.   So Serenity embroidered one on Audrey’s skirt.   Audrey posed like this on her own.  These kinds of things come so natural for a girl.  It just makes me smile.   Good job, Serenity. I’m proud of you!! I’m also linking up with Tackle It Tuesday.

  • My Very Own Moss Covered Letter

I really wish I were crafty and original but “I yam what I yam”.  (Now why did Popeye spring up in my memory? 🙂 )  I’m so glad for those of you who are really clever and and are able to think of ways you can make just about anything you see that would normally cost mucho buckaroos if you were to buy it at retail.  Thanks for sharing your creative talents and letting the rest of us learn from you. Felt So Cute was where I saw a tutorial for how to make these cute moss covered letters.  I spotted this tutorial “Games to Go” on her site.  What a totally cute project.  Now if you really don’t…

  • Sewing Organizer Using Old Jeans

My son had a pair of jeans that were new looking but the back had a pretty bad tear.  “What a shame” I thought, “to throw these almost new looking pants away.  What can I make with them?” In my hunt for a use for them I found a tutorial for the following sewing organizer.  I started to make it but then decided to branch off (gasp!  I know that’s a real shocker 🙂 )on my own. So here you have Elisabeth’s tutorial for a Sewing Organizer.  Materials needed: 1 pair of jeans for background 4 jean pockets thread iron-on applique’s ric-rac or other decorative item dowel 1 yd. rope…

  • Make Your Own Burp Cloths

I don’t know what exactly inspired me to try making burp cloths but for whatever reason I decided to make some.  I found inspiration online.  As always!  Barb at A Chelsea Morning had some that she had made that I thought were adorable and then I found Laundry Monster on Etsy who has a great variety for sale and they are cute!  Here are the ones I made. My supplies were: Pre-folded Birdseye Diapers 1/4 – 1/2 yard fabric – depending on how many burp cloths you would like to make (I chose flannel instead of cotton because I’m thinking the spit-up from the baby will absorb better, but it may…

  • Working on a Winter Mantle

Over the weekend I started working on decorating my mantle for winter.  Until a few months ago I had not changed my mantle decor for years.  Yep, you read that right.  Years.  But I liked how it looked and wasn’t thinking about changing it seasonally.  So decorating my mantle for the winter season is new territory to me. I got the idea for this gate from Funky Junk Interiors.  Here is her gate here. We had this old fencing we picked up several years ago for a homeschool co-op day we had.  I wanted to save it but it has slowly been being used for firewood.  Fortunately, we still had…
