A Third Trip to Havasupai – Day 3
In past years, on the third day, we would be hiking out but this year we decided to stay an day. It was a nice relaxing day visiting Navajo & Havasu Falls but there were some that hiked to Beaver again! They wanted to do more cliff jumping.
Havasu Falls was where Russell and I went first. There were some that climbed the slippery moss covered rocks to get to a place under the falls where they could jump.
We stayed a good amount of time and even witnessed someone getting engaged – the second engagement we saw while at Havasupai.
Navajo Falls, we have found, is the best place to swim. Since it is not right next to the campground, less people go there. It is so majestic.
There are more waterfalls than even you can see in the photo above and you can wade through the water to get to them. It felt great being so close to and having the spray showering you.
There’s a little cave you can go into. Again, you feel like you’re in Hawaii… except I’ve never been to Hawaii so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about. haha
Water shoes are essential, I think. They give grip when walking on slippery rocks and they are perfect for walking both on the trail and in the water.
These two cousins have made some really good memories together even with an age gap of 8 years.
The courtyard of the Lodge had 2 pomegranate trees and we availed ourselves of their delicious fruit – feasting on many everyday.
Total miles hiked: 30 miles for this gal! I can’t believe I did it with almost no problems. The first day hiking down was fine until near the end and I just became so drained and felt so weak. Thankfully, I had packed some coconut water and remembered it when I was feeling so low. I drank it and almost immediately felt 100% better. I was amazed at the results. I would need to test it again but next time, I will most definitely take coconut water with me.
The next and last day was the big ride out of the canyon!
