Celebrating 24 Years of Marriage

Our 24th wedding anniversary was yesterday and every year it’s a busy time because the kids are getting their 4-H animals ready to show and then to sell at the auction. But just like my birthday back in March, Russell decided to take me away. I’m thinking “I’ve got a wedding reception to plan and a myriad of other things to do but whisked away I was.

Our first stop was for an hour-long massage. A sister at our church gave me a gift certificate for one a few years ago and it hasn’t worked out till now to use it. A person could get used to things like that. 🙂

Then we went to Sedona but not to stay in a tent this time. This time we stayed in a nice hotel room. Oh, yeah!

We had some homemade ice cream which we ate while sitting outside the shop looking at the beautiful red rocks of Sedona.  Tourists were walking by enjoying the last bits of their day as daylight faded into dusk.

We had taken along a quad so that we could Russell could explore some of the Jeep trails.  There are several companies in Sedona that take people on Jeep tours and so Russell has always wanted to check these trails out.  What he discovered was that there are no really challenging trails – anyone could access them in a truck.  But the quad ride was fun anyways.

I love seeing Indian ruins, so Russell took me to the Honanki Indian ruins.

Doesn’t this trail look so picturesque?

The Sinaguan Indians were cliff dwellers. They figure about 200 people lived in this area.

I think these little deer are so cute.  I wonder if a young boy drew these?  IMG_4011

I saw a few places that had these tally-marks. I wonder what they represented?IMG_4012 IMG_4013

I found this interesting… the inside of the prickly pear has a small wooden stem running through it.

And then our arrival home.  “Serenity thank you so much.  You’re so precious.”
