The Outdoor Kitchens of Vanuatu – Part IV
The real reason for the trip to Vanuatu was a youth camp that our pastor had been asked to preach at. Every day they were there, even before the youth camp started, they had church services, and that’s where the real conversations on a personal level occurred.
The pictures I am posting of Vanuatu are with a focus on showing you the land and people.
Chickens could be found everywhere, running around freely. Sometimes they roosted in a tree near the hut they stayed at.
Zachary was very glad when supper consisted of a rooster. Cock-a-doodle-do!!!
The kitchens were a bit more primitive than what we have here in America.

They are set up for tourists with huts for you to stay in while you visit the active volcano that is near-by.
Next post, I’ll show you your accommodations should you decide to take a trip.
Now, go enjoy and thank the Lord for your beautiful kitchen with running water. 🙂

That was neat and enjoyed and reminded me of getting to help some ladies in their outdoor kitchens in Africa. Sometimes when it’s nice outside I would love to have an outdoor kitchen setup. Thanks for sharing.

Such a neat experience for Zachary! And we are so spoiled here in the States. I’m enjoying learning about their way of life.

Thanks, Lily! Yes, we do have it good here in the U.S.

Did you learn any good African cooking tips? 🙂
Lucille
Not really…they were trying to cook as close to American as they could, probably for our benefit. They had cement tops for counter top and wooden tables to work on but I don’t remember what their stove and oven looked like…I just remember the unbreaded fried chicken, potatoes and mostly lettuce salad. I got to help but language barrier was a bit of a problem.
