Our 2011 Thanksgiving Tablescape
Not counting the experiment in our Thanksgiving menu, šĀ we had a lovely Thanksgiving celebration on Sunday.
I used the table runner I made with some muslin, scraps of material and the kids’ handprints.
Gobble, Gobble, Gobble
The centerpiece was simple.Ā I took the idea from Melissa at Life on the FarmĀ – a candle setting inĀ corn. I found the pinecones and other decorations on clearance at Wal-Mart.
There’s my turkey plates that I got on clearance last year from World Market for $.69 each.Ā The red plates were being clearanced at Kmart a few years ago becauseĀ of slight imperfections.Ā The napkins came from World Market.
The small cards placed to the left ofĀ the plates are the words to the song “We Gather Together”.Ā Ā My kids learned this during our song time in our homeschool and then ended up singing itĀ as a family one year forĀ theĀ Thanksgiving program that I like to do whenever I’m the one hosting Thanksgiving.Ā Before we ateĀ our Thanksgiving dinner this year, we sang this song.
Can’t wait to see what you all did for your Thanksgiving table!

I just wanted to say I like your turkey plates-too cute. The table is great.
Elisabeth
Thank you, Sarah! Setting the table for a special dinner is probably my most favorite thing to do.
Thanks for stopping by.
Melissa
Your table looks very nice! The table runner with the kids’ handprints is a neat idea. (love the corn candle!)
Elisabeth
Thanks, Melissa for your inspiration, too. š
Betsy
Nice!! Love the table! Your turkeys on the table runner are so cute!! I’m going to have to shop around AFTER Thanksgiving for some more cheap stuff, like you did last year! I love World Market, especially the clearance section!!
Elisabeth
Betsy, I noticed that most of the Thanksgiving stuff gets clearanced before Thanksgiving. It’s ridiculous. Right after Halloween, the fall items are being cleared out for Christmas and the stores are actually carrying very little of Thanksgiving. World Market had a better selection than most.
Betsy
Whoops – forgot to mention – thanks for linking up to Take it on Tuesday blog hop!

Sister Elizabeth, your table is beautiful! Your table runner, and the candle in the corn, was a great idea!

Looks amazing. Even Newt caught a glimpse and was oohing and aahing. Love it!
Elisabeth
All because of you. š I was thinking of having my mom embroidery down the sides with a Scripture verse or a quote about being thankful. It would turn into a real heirloom. My kids’ handprints, my grandmothers dress used for a few of the handprints, and my mom’s embroidery work.

Your table runner is adorable! What a treasure! Happy Thanksgiving!

Beautiful festive table…love the table runner.
Enjoy the last of the long holiday weekend…
Elisabeth
Thanks, Marigene. We had a lovely week. My daughter and I spent time stamping which we have only done together about once or twice! But we had fun.

CUTE tablerunner!!! That is something you will be able to cherish and use for many years to come! I love it!!!
Elisabeth
Thanks, Alycia. The only problem I found with it was ironing it after I washed it. Muslin wrinkles badly but since it’s only a table runner and not an entire tablecloth it was doable.
