31 Days of Kitchen Inspiration Day 5: 6 Items I Don’t Regret Buying for My Kitchen

I have a few items that really work for me in my kitchen – 6 items that I have no regrets purchasing.  Maybe they’ll help you, too, or inspire you to something even better.

#1  I like to reuse the plastic bags I get when I go shopping but where to store them?

Some of the ways I have tried are:

  • Stuffing them all into one bag and then placing the overfilled bag into any cubby I could find so they would be contained and not all fall out
  • grocery bag holder like this one.. I didn’t have a good place to hang it and it seemed to not hold very much as well as being a bit awkward when getting a bag out

  • but then I got this wall mount grocery bag holder…  You can buy them from Amazon and maybe Target & Wal-Mart as well.  I love it.  My hubby screwed it into a stud in the wall so it’s very sturdy.  I can stuff a gazillion bags into it and it’s easy to grab one out.  A much better solution in my opinion than anything else.

#2 The next thing I like in my pantry is a simple little crate which you can buy at Michael’s.  It holds my potatoes, yams and onions.  Why do I like it?  It keeps all the dirt and onion husks from getting onto the floor, all while allowing the vegetables to breathe.  I keep a paper grocery bag on the bottom so that if I do have any potatoes that go bad it will get on the bag and hopefully not the wood.

#3 I have bought granola in bulk in the past (am currently depending on Costco’s cereal but would like to start making my own – someday, right?) and at the time I was buying in bulk I bought containers from Tupperware.  I love the uniform look they bring to the pantry as well as the fact that I don’t have to have a large box of granola sitting in my pantry but can pour some into these containers.

#4 A double hook on the back of my pantry door has been wonderful for holding the many aprons I have.

#5 My cookbook stand is so very helpful…

#6 and the last thing on my list is my little drying rack where I dry all my tea towels & dish cloths before they go to the laundry room.  I LOVE this and use it all the time.
