Sprucing up the Master Bedroom

We’ve now lived 15 years,as of December, in a home we designed and built ourselves. (Or rather my hubby built it.  I just kept him well fed.)  The 15 years has went by so quickly.  So quickly that there are still projects unfinished after all this time! 🙂  I’m sure you know how it is.  You just get used to how things look and only get to things when they really need done.

Like my bedroom…  We left it white all those years ago because I wanted to paint it but I didn’t know what color.  I’m still undecided. 🙂  I also wanted to make a nice little seating area in there but that never happened.  You getting the idea?  Things just never happened in there.

This cute little secretary desk was placed on the wall on the far left 15 years ago and has never been moved… until this past week.  You can still see the imprint of the desk legs in the carpet.

So I decided to try a new location and to work on making this the cozy area I had always wanted.  I even went a step further and cleaned the desk out.  Wow!  I had no idea there was this much tissue paper stuffed stacked in there.

All in this little cabinet.

It has now been moved to another location and my cabinets and drawer stand empty waiting for me to decide just what I want to use them for.

Now my seating area looks like this…  I had to bring my Gazelle in since I need to exercise.  This way I have no excuse! Ugh.  I also have 2 cello cases that I would love to put somewhere else.  Need to work on that.  The cases do need to be accessible since my son plays his cello in church twice a week.  They’re so big.  I still would like to paint – just need to figure out what color.  I also would like curtains but I’m not sure what style.  Any suggestions?

And here is another picture of my seating area – using things I already had here at home.  My little reading corner…

With your antique desk and that rocking chair I can see antique biege color paint with lace curtains fluttering in the breeze of an open window….as for the cello case…we keep ours in the coat closet. I just made a space for it and it just fits. We used to keep it behind the couch until I moved the furniture around.
Can’t wait to see pics when your room is all finished!

I love hearing from you! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
