Our Family

The Week in Review 5/23/10

Before I start my week in review, I want to give honor to those who fought and gave their lives in service to our country – a very great price to pay.  May we never forget them.

Monday was the day we said goodbye to Zachary’s cello teacher he’s had for the last year.  She’s moving and will be pursuing her doctorate in cello.  She was a good teacher for Zachary.  As we’ve had different teachers over the years, I can say that you definitely need to find a teacher that’s a good fit for your child.

We had our end of year awards at 4-H.  This is Zachary’s last year to be in 4-H and so it was another “Goodbye” for him.

Our little Boer that was born a few weeks ago is getting more active everyday.

The kids were enthralled.

Our chicks are doing well.  One of our hens was sitting outside the chicks pen but right next to it trying to be a momma it appeared.  So Zachary placed it in the coop with the chicks and it has become their little mother.  If you’ve never had chickens, I’ll tell you what happens if you put baby chicks in with the rest of the flock.  They big chickens will think the chicks are intruders and will peck and kill them.  It’s good to wait until they’re a little older before you put them all together.

Saturday was a wedding for some very good friends of ours.

These were the flowers that were onstage.  Aren’t they beautiful?

Zachary was honored to be asked to play his cello before and during the wedding.  He accompanied the pianist and to my ears (unbiased, of course 🙂 )sounded beautiful.

We had our big BBQ yesterday – but that’s for next week.

It’s been a long weekend and I’m tired!
