Trips We've Made

Our trips

  • A Second Trip to Havasupai – Day 1

The week of the Havasupai trip was upon us and people started coming from near and far to meet up with us before we headed out on Monday morning. We had guests from Norway, England, Canada, New York, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Colorado, Oklahoma and of course, our beloved state of Arizona. We decided we’d not make our slave labor friends work on the pergola anymore that day and they actually went and did something fun. 😉 Sunday was church and a big dinner here at the house. Of course everyone waited until late evening Sunday to get their packs ready to go and with an early morning departure of 5:30,…

  • A Hike With Incredible Sights is the Best Kind of Exercise

Like a child facing the prospect of eating a vegetable they detest, I contemplate the thought of my personal nemesis… exercise! It brings out the worst traits in me. Traits like procrastination, lethargy and excuse making. “I can’t do it right now. I’ll do it later.” “I don’t feel up to it today. I’ll be sure to do it another day.” “I’ve got too much going on. There’s nooo wayyy  I have time for exercise, too!” But when I do get outside and take a walk in the beautiful morning air or late afternoon sunshine it is rejuvenating and refreshing. It changes my outlook and actually gives me more energy.…

  • Taking Our Last Walk Around London

The London Underground system is quite complex and the way most Londoners get around. Adding up all the lines it is 250 miles in length. We never rented a car while there, we just rode the “tube”. There are ideas for all types of small businesses and I’m always very interested to see what creative and entrepreneurial minds have thought of. These 3 businesses were some we saw when we were finding our way out of the subway stations. They are all located near exits going into the street but are for those that are busy commuting to work and home every day. The Oats, etc. Cafe open for breakfast……

  • Visiting the Chapel and Home of a Tremendous Man of God

When John Wesley outgrew the Foundry (his first church) he purchased the land where Wesley’s Chapel is located today.  “I look upon all the world as my parish.” –John Wesley   When first built there was no stained glass inside the chapel but over time, the church that still meets at Wesley’s Chapel today has replaced some of the windows with stained glass. The pillars are original as well as the pews. Can you imagine that all these pews were hand-made? I thought these extra seats that slide out of the pew were really clever. We were able to go inside John Wesley’s 3 story home which is adjacent…
