Elk Hunting Camp 2010 – Part II

Elk Hunting Camp 2010 – Part I

Here’s Part II of our Elk Hunting Camp.  On Sunday morning, no one hunts and we have a morning church service at our Church in the Wildwood.  It’s always a lovely time with the breeze blowing through the trees and having nature around you.  We always have a brunch about 10.  We do this so that we can give the hunters a chance to rest since they’ve been getting up very early the other days.  It also gives us time for the weather to warm since its in the lower 30’s at before daybreak.

We had a beautiful spread.  This is just a portion of what was offered.  My friend got fancy and made the tiered bread plates using styrofoam cups.  I thought it looked very attractive.

We always have one central fire but sometimes there are a few others.  I loved this campfire that one family had – cooking things the old-fashioned way. Cheaper, too.

At camp there were times of humor…

bashful smiles…

and playfulness with friends…

and time for me to enjoy my son Seth who was gone for the summer. These are just some of the reasons why we all enjoy our time in the woods.

Serenity hunted every day for a week (except Sunday) and finally got her elk on the very last day. She was weary but elated when she attained her goal.

Wesley got his elk the first day and then was able to stay at camp the rest of the time.

One by one the campers had to return home until it was just us and a few others. Time to pack up.  Since we call ourselves the outfitters for the camp, we bring LOTS of stuff.

I had the feeling as we took everything down, that we were like those people that come in after a big event, like they have at civic centers and such. After all the noise and activitiy it was quiet and all the glory was gone. It was just the job of packing everything away for the ride home.Wall tent is down

After 6 hours of loading everything up (maybe more), we had everything in its place and were ready to leave.

But the young people wanted to continue things…  So down to our house a group of them travelled.

They stayed overnight but then had to leave the next morning. We didn’t want to say bye to them either. We had to have a little fun with them at the end and tried to delay their leaving…

but weren’t able to. We’ll just have to look forward to the next time.

If you’ve made it to the end of my post, thank you! 🙂

Til next time…

Yep, we have a big camp every year. It’s a tradition for a lot of them and we encourage a lot of people to put in for those particular hunts. We all like the organic meat, too.

I love hearing from you! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
