Our Family

When Your Children Grow Up

Although there comes a time when you must release the arrows in your quiver, it’s still difficult when change comes to your family that you have nurtured and watched over for so many years.

My son Wesley, who is 19,  embarked on his own adventure by deciding to go to Canada to work for a few months this summer. What a great opportunity for him to learn new skills and spend time with family. After the camp meeting, we had to say goodbye to him since he was going to be flying out of that area the next day and not traveling home with us.

Last hugs for his sister.

Things are a little different here at the homestead without Wesley.

No bigger boy to ask for help with the heavy jobs. It’s quieter and our table was just too big, so we removed a leaf.

And you know what that means… less food to prepare, less laundry. But I miss that boy.

Wow…I don’t even want to think of when my kiddos get to the age where they go on their own long distance adventures… =/

Wish we could keep them forever! It’s exciting to watch them grow up and experience life that you try and prepare them for, but sad for us at the same time because we love and miss them at the same time. I always have to remind myself to put myself in their shoes and remember how awesome and fun life was, even though the responsibility also was a bit scary at times.

I love hearing from you! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
