Getting Ready for the Holiday’s
Has it only been a week since we came home from Pennsylvania? So much can happen can’t it, in just a short time? I arrived home from Pennsylvania only to be laid up in bed for 3 days. I had become anemic and did that ever bring me low. Absolutely no energy and just wanted to sleep and sleep and the headaches were horrible. Thankfully, I was able to see a naturopath who prescribed some tinctures to help with the situation. I’ve had so many bitter tasting substances in the last several days. Yuck! But I’m on the mend, thank the Lord.
I’ve been working on a family cookbook. Last January I had sent out an email to family members telling them what I wanted to do along with some guidelines. Five recipes but preferably from different categories (I didn’t want to just have desserts and no vegetables!) with photos – ones they took. I also asked that it be recipes they had made and currently loved because we all know our favorites change over time. Well you know how it goes, the last week everyone was busy collecting what recipes they wanted to submit. Me included. 🙂
I think the finished product is going to be quite nice. There are some great cooks in my family (in my humble opinion), so I’m excited to taste some of their favorites. I even have our family’s chocolate gravy recipe in the cookbook – a family favorite for 3 generations now or maybe it’s 4 generations now.
Christmas letters and pictures are sent out.
We’re working on putting up a few winter decorations.
AND
For goodness sake, I decided to reorganize my closet. It’s been in a state of disrepair for awhile. My whole family (except my son, Zachary who is going on a missionary trip to the Philippines) will be here for the holiday’s and since there will be about 30 of us gathered, every room of the house will be in use. In times like this, Russell and I surrender our bedroom to the unmarried girls and we take up lodging in the laundry room. (I told you every room of the house will be in use!) 🙂
So since my lovely nieces will be residing in my bedroom, I thought it prudent to make my closet presentable. But like most of you know, one thing leads to another and I have a project that really should have been saved for future spare moments.
I also have a few craft projects I’d like to work on. I really like this sign from Scripted Simplicity and think it would look nice on my mantle but it’s out of my price range at $150. I’d like to try and make one of my own but shorten the phrase to “O Come Let Us Adore Him”.
My closet will have to wait till Saturday because tomorrow I’m going to spend some time with my granddaughter, Shalom. Isn’t she adorable?

When you open your mind to unusual places to sleep, you realize that you have much more room than you imagined. 🙂

Thank you. It’s taking a while to build up my iron so the energy levels are not quite what I had before. Praying that I have plenty while everyone is here. Otherwise I’ll be directing from the comfort of the couch. 🙂

Shalom is just TOO cute! Sure can’t wait for my time! I know all about anemia, so I sure feel for you. Not easy to deal with when you have so much to be done all around you.

Yes, it was not a good time to be laid up with so much to do up but I’m thanking the Lord for his promise of healing that He gives and the healing touch He gave me. He’s so good to me.
