Our Family

Greetings from Pennsylvania

We’re still in Pennsylvania enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday and we made it here almost without incident.

A flight at 2:00 a.m. (I’d like to know who schedules planes at this time of the day!) caused us to try to catch a few winks wherever we were for any length of time.

It was there at Dallas/Ft Worth airport that we had an unpleasant incident. My son found an ipod and headphones on a seat. The airport was completely deserted as it was still too early for any flights, so we knew the owner was nowhere around. So my hubby went to the gate where we would be boarding our plane for Pennsylvania to report the lost ipod and to leave a phone number so that if the owner showed up we could mail it to him.

It must have been much too early in the morning for the employee as well  because he became quite unpleasant. When he realized Russell wasn’t going to leave the ipod behind he started telling him he couldn’t do that, accusing him of stealing it, no less, (like we would report it if we were trying to steal it) and telling us what a bad example we were setting for our son.

While he was concerned about our “stealing” the ipod we ourselves weren’t sure if leaving the ipod with the agent would be a very safe plan either.

Of course our kids were dying of embarrassment since we were boarding the flight with people all around.

So next thing the gate agent did was to call the police.

All before 7:00a.m. What a way to start our day.

After a visit with the police, who were much more pleasant then the agent, we turned the ipod over to them where they will hold it and if it’s not claimed by the end of the year, it will be auctioned off.

We arrived in Pennsylvania without further event much to everyone’s relief. 🙂

Serenity turned 17 this week and Audrey turned 9.

It snowed 8″ the day after we arrived. The kids had great fun sledding and playing in the snow.

I think it’s the greatest thing when you are able to use the cold weather to your advantage. The outdoors make a great refrigerator/freezer when it’s cold outside. We put a bowl of ice outside and it never even melted.

How was your Thanksgiving? Did you have a big one or was it quiet?

We saw Amish in buggies, on bikes and riding scooters. We saw one elderly lady biking up a hill. I was totally impressed. I’m sure she would have outdid me.

It’s opening day for the rifle deer season here in Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, opening day is an official holiday. Businesses are open but no school.

It was a good Thanksgiving holiday. Hopefully our trip home on Wednesday will be less memorable than the one coming out!

And finally, more snow is in the forecast for tomorrow – our last day here.
