A Trip to Illinois
I’m thankful for the last several days Justus and I were able to spend in Illinois with my parents. The start of my trip didn’t go so well. We left the house at 4 a.m. but then we ran into this situation…
A semi trailer had caught on fire. No one was hurt but the freeway was closed and so we sat. When we arrived the officer was just putting out pylons otherwise we could have been through and made it to the airport on time. But we didn’t and our flight was missed.
So we had a nice long (5 hour) layover in Chicago. But the reunion with my parents, sister and niece made it all worthwhile. We had a good time and celebrated both of my parents 77th birthday’s. So thankful that they are in good health.
And here are a few pictures of our time there. My sister tells me she likes to see pictures of what is going on in my life, thus this post.
Justus was my traveling companion this time around. I love having this individual time with my children.
My niece, Abigail had some ideas she had got off of Pinterest for poses with couples. So we tried one and she dubbed it a Pinterest Fail!
Yeah, it didn’t work too good. haha
We (the kids) were supposed to be framed by our parents giving each other a kiss. They were to be blurry and we were to be in focus. It was more difficult than it would seem.
My sister, Rebekah is the ham of the family.
My mom generously let me organize her freezer. I emptied out her chest freezer and organized it all into her upright. It was mainly all food that she has put up from her garden.
She felt bad that I was doing it but I told her it was fun for me.
Happy 77th Birthday to my wonderful parents! I’m so glad we could spend it with you.

Haha! I like the term, “Pinterest Fail”. Also-love the idea of “individual time with our children”…will have to put that into practice as I’m sure it fulfills their need for the occasional undivided attention from their parent. =]

Loved the “Pinterest Fail” picture. “Priceless” is the perfect word, I think… lol!

That is so neat that you two do that and have the special time with your parents and a child!

I am so glad Rebekah is doing it, too. It’s a good time to be together for us.
