A Visit to American Girl Place
Grandparents have a reputation for spoiling their grandchildren and rightly so. Like I said in “An Unusual Welcome Home“, our girls were treated royally. Let’s just say there was plenty of sugar being passed around and I don’t mean all hugs and kisses either. Ice cream and ice cream cones were pretty popular that week. 🙂
We took a day trip to Chicago to visit the American Girl doll store. Such fun – even for adults, if you like miniature things. And I do.
Isn’t this just adorable? Mini salt & pepper shakers with napkin holder, maple syrup & organize juice pitcher. So cute!
The girls all prettied up and ready to go.
We arrived after a 3 hour drive.
Audrey was full of smiles and didn’t quite know where to begin. She doesn’t own the 18″ American Girl doll but instead has the American Girl Bitty Baby. It’s her favorite doll because it is soft and cuddly. And for the record she’s not a major doll lover. That was Serenity. 🙂
When you first walk in the front door there are displays on either side.
My niece just wanted a cow for her special present. 🙂
Maybe your dolls hair is a tangled mess. The Hair Salon takes care of that.
The Doll Hospital cares for the doll that needs some repairs/TLC.
There’s a long corridor that replicates what a quaint street might feel like with different types of shops for the girls and their dolls.
A very fun but rather costly experience was eating in the American Girl Cafe. Here you are treated like very special guests. Top quality service. Real glasses, no plastic and no kids cups.
When you arrive at the entrance, instead of asking you how many kid’s menus you need, they ask you how many doll high chairs you would like.
The decor was the classic American Girl colors, hot pink, black and white. Very beautiful.
The waiter even would pretend to fill the doll’s cup. 🙂
All meals come with cinnamon buns, appetizers, main dish and dessert. By then we were so full we couldn’t eat much of it.
This stage of her life will be over so quickly and this memory will be one that I’ll always treasure with my little girl.

We just got one in Columbus a couple years ago. I took Chloe right before Christmas but we were rushed for time so hoping to go back. It is definitely moments to cherish and especially with grandpa and grandma being along too. I enjoyed the pictures.

Oh, how nice to have close-by. Definitely not a store you can visit often because there’s too many cute things that a person would want to buy and the wallet would empty out very quickly. lol

Aww, so cute! Looks like a very memorable trip for Audrey and Bethany – and you, too! 🙂
