A Most Unusual Welcome Home
I just returned last night from my visit to mom and dad’s. We had such a good time and of course, the girls were spoiled! But I’ll tell you all about that in the next post. Today I want to celebrate Russell & my 25th wedding anniversary. Yesterday, April 22, was the day we were married 25 years ago in a double wedding with my sister and her hubby. I know it may seem odd to be out-of-town on such a big day but that seemed to be the only dates to get back to mom and dad’s, so thus it was.
When I arrived home from the airport my husband had a big surprise waiting for me. He was in the parking garage directly across from where I was waiting for him on the sidewalk right outside the terminal. When I drew closer to him I could see a large bouquet of flowers on the hood of the Suburban and him casually leaning against the side of it. At first I couldn’t see what he was doing… but then I saw him holding a guitar and singing to me…
- Let me call you “Sweetheart,” I’m in love with you.
- Let me hear you whisper that you love me too.
- Keep the love-light glowing in your eyes so true.
- Let me call you “Sweetheart,” I’m in love with you.
I was pretty impressed with this welcome. ♥
He was going to meet me inside the airport with all this (guitar and song included!) but thankfully he was talked out of it by Serenity. I don’t think I could have handled that, for sure!
Before we left Illinois we had to get a picture with our dad who walked us both down the aisle 25 years ago. I’m getting more and more sentimental about things as I grow older, so I got pretty teary-eyed thinking about it all and he was certainly feeling it himself.

I have much to be thankful for and I certainly thank God for my wonderful husband of 25 years!

What a romantic! He let the “whole” airport know you are his sweetheart-how sweet. Happy Anniversary! Love both pictures.

Yes, you were a part of our lives then and now – 25 years later. Your friendship is treasured. ♥
