The Castle Keepers Talk About “The Gift of Friendship”

This month was my time to teach the Castle Keepers class. (If you’re wondering what that is – read here.)

For some time I have had it on my heart (before Castle Keepers began) to talk to the girls about Friendship.  So that’s what we did.
The class was called:

The Gift of Friendship

Several weeks before the class, I had everyone answer questions.  Some, I told them, would be kept private and were for my planning purposes only.  Others were to be read in the class.

Here were the questions I asked them.

Do you have insecurities?
Do you sometimes feel like nobody likes you?
Do you ever feel alone even when in the midst of a crowd?
Would you like to have a few close friends or many casual friends?
Do you tend to look at life  as the glass is half full or half empty?

These questions will be shared with the class. (Maybe not all of them but at least some.)
What task around the house is your favorite?
What task around the house is your least favorite?
What’s your favorite candy?
If there were one person you could meet (living or already passed – besides Bro. Branham & the Lord Jesus) who would it be and why?
What is one of your favorite quotes or sayings?
What is your favorite song?
If you could visit any country in the world, where would you go?
What is your favorite thing to spend money on?
What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?
What is your favorite breakfast food?
Would you be willing to eat a bowl of crickets for $40,000?
If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
What is your greatest strength or weakness?
What cheers you up?
Name 3 hobbies you have.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Do you prefer sunrises or sunsets?
If you could change anything about yourself what would it be?
What new thing did you learn in the last week?
If someone asked you to give them a random piece of advice, what would you say?
Do you like to plan things out in detail or be spontaneous?
What are some things that make you really happy?
What are some things that make you really sad?
What are some things that scare you?

It’s not my comfort zone to get up in front of a group and to be the main focus but yet on the other hand I do love teaching.  The group of girls that are participating in the club are so fun to work with.  They’re all very encouraging, respectful and sweet and that makes them so enjoyable to be with.

pray for your friendsAt one point I talked to the girls about how conversation is like tossing a ball. If someone asks you how your day was, you may respond, “Fine” but if you say nothing more, that halts the conversation right there.  The other person may then toss you another ball by saying something else  but if you never respond with something more than a one-word answer or say something that adds to the conversation, your conversation will die out.

To build a friendship YOU must talk and THEY must talk.

conversational skillsSerenity and I put together mini-books to give to the girls.  Inside the book, we placed the main points of my talk. We used the sewing machine to sew the pages to the cover and believe me,that saved us loads of time.

mini booksAfter our talk on friendship, the girls did a quick craft of making candles in a tea cup.  This is a craft that I need to work on perfecting but hey, the wax melted and the candle burns – unlike my first attempt at making a candle using soy wax flakes with a melted crayon added to give color. A candle that actually burns is a good thing. haha
