Graduation Favors

My sister is flying in today with her Abigail her daughter.  She’s my big help every time I have a graduate.  (3 so far. woohoo!)  Well since I’m always preaching to her about organization I really should have my own act together don’t you think?

So why am I on Pinterest this morning looking for graduation favors? I’ll tell you why.  I was going to make Cajeta which is a Mexican caramel made with goat milk.  After all we do have goats and we’re serving Mexican food at the graduation, so it sounded like a plan.  A good one. But in the last two weeks we’ve had a change in dairy hands.

Wesley, our dairy man and soon to be highschool graduate has entered into the work force as of yesterday.

So that meant that we needed a new dairy hand.  Enter Justus.

He has been milking the goats almost entirely on his own for the last 2 weeks. We’ve been impressed with how he’s taking on the responsibility and just want to make sure we keep it going. 🙂

Back to why I can no longer make cajeta.  There have been a few mishaps and therefore less milk.  Cajeta requires A LOT of milk and then cooks down to less than half of its original amount, so I’m scraping the cajeta idea and going with something else.  To be determined what exactly that will be but I’m gathering ideas.

All these fun ideas but I think I’m going to go with soft goat cheese. Ha!  Hopefully it goes over well.  Sometimes people can be kind of funny when it comes to goat milk. 😮
