Dessert Stations – a Popular Replacement for the Standard Wedding Cake
Are you all aware of the trend these days to have a variety of desserts (preferably bite sized) offered at weddings? I’ve been to a few weddings where there is no wedding cake or if there is it’s just enough for the bride and groom to cut and feed each other. Personally, I like the new trend. A variety of scrumptious (hopefully) desserts to choose from… ahhh, love it.
It’s not good for the waistline…
Oh, why did you have to go and remind me?! I was salivating over some delicious confection drizzled with chocolate. Loaded with calories, of course.
My niece, Emily is getting married this Saturday and she has asked me to make a dessert for her wedding. Since I like to bake, I couldn’t stop at one, so I’m planning 3-4 things.
Two days ago my oven was going all day while I made these. These boat shaped tartlets will eventually be Caramel Carmenitas.
I found these cute mini red velvet cakes online and planned to make them…

but then I found these with the fruit on top and like them even better.

Along with the Caramel Carmenitas and Mini Red Velvet Cakes, I will be dipping strawberries in chocolate and making Mini Lemon Meringue Pies. Trying to transport everything to the reception site is going to be interesting. Russell is pretty creative when it comes to figuring out that end of it, so if I run into trouble, I’ll just give him a holler and have him rescue me. I’m excited to see all the little desserts finished up. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some good pictures that I can share here on the blog.
Take a look at some dessert stations I found online…
all except for this one. This dessert table was at a wedding I went to last September.

I would really like to add these glasses, called shooters, to my kitchen collection.

Don’t they make for a fun presentation?

So many gorgeous ideas. Now, I think I’ll go and have me a chocolate covered strawberry.

Hahaha….”Not good for the waistline” is right. 😀 I like this idea too…I’ve always thought that things like pie and ice-cream sundaes tasted waaaay better than cake. (Yet people continued to serve it at their weddings…?) I guess it was just tradition.

Who cares about waistlines???… Just think about that later!
I like the “parfait” ideas, sort of a diffrent twist from the traditional.
