Our Family

Week in Review 1/9/11 – 1/16/11

This weekend we headed to Tucson to enjoy a time of gospel singing with about 800 others.  It was absolutely wonderful the one night I was there.  The other 2 nights I was home with sick children. 🙁  Oh well, dem’s the breaks.

Here’s a snapshot of a portion of the crowd.

Late nights – 1-2 a.m. because the kids didn’t want to stop visiting.  I don’t have their stamina so I turned in early a few evenings:)

Sunday we ate at the shopping plaza where Gabrielle Giffords and many others were either injured or killed.  This was on the street corner of the plaza.

In front of the grocery store where it happened, there were many more flowers and people who were standing quietly paying their respects.

Sunday afternoon was the last music concert, then there was a Taco buffet offered to everyone who was there, then it was time to go home.  But no one wanted to leave and so we were there for several more hours until the staff kicked us out.  Did we all just go home to bed?  Absolutely not for the night was young.  It was only 10:30 p.m. LOL

The kids must have got inspired by the weekend of singing because they sang for a few hours with MUCH gusto.  We were talking in the next room and had to almost shout just to be heard. (and I’m not joking!)

There was some serious hair stuff going on, too.  Looks like a sleepless night in the works for these two girls.  How could anyone get comfortable with all that in your hair, I ask you? (Rebekah my sister, this pic is for you, so that you can see your beloved daughter. We’re taking good care of her.  Promise.)

Serenity is getting the works here – a foot massage.  Man!  Where was I?

On a more serious note – my uncle passed away after a prolonged hospital stay on Sunday and now my cousin, (from the same side of the family) is in the hospital in ICU.  He had a seizure, fell and hit his head.  The last I heard they’re watching for swelling on the brain.  He’s in stable but critical condition.  If you don’t mind mentioning the family in your prayers, I would most thankful.  My cousin’s name is Eugene and he is not a Christian.

You’ll have to talk your parents into going if they do it again next year but this may have been the last year. It’s well worth going.

I love hearing from you! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
