Tea P’s in a Pod, written by Arnold Pent, Jr. at the age of 17, is about a family with 8 children who crisscrossed the United States, as well as made travels to Canada, in an effort to tell others about Jesus Christ.

Arnold Jr.’s dad, whose name is also Arnold, was a somewhat unusual man who would let nothing discourage him or stand in his way if he felt that God had called him to go somewhere or do something. Like the time the roads were completely closed due to a snow storm. The police had blocked the roads causing miles of traffic. Mr. Pent talked with the police officer about getting through but the officer would not hear of it and was quite unpleasant about it. After waiting quite some time, Mr. Pent knew that if they didn’t leave then they would not have enough time to make it to their next engagement. He felt the Lord wanted him to go, so he knew God would make a way. With this confidence, the Pent family drove their cars (they had two since there were so many of them) to the head of the line whereupon Mr. Pent engaged the police officer in conversation once again. Miraculously, the officer relented and they were able to get through and make it to the church with only minutes to spare.

Mr. Pent felt that spiritual nourishment was just as important as physical nourishment so each child was to have devotions privately in the morning and then that was followed up with devotions with the family. Because of this, many of the children were able to memorize large portions of the Bible – a few of them the entire New Testament and in their programs at the different churches they would sometimes have the people quote a verse of their own choosing, anywhere in the Bible and the children would complete it.

The book is written in a humorous style causing plenty of laughter making for a good read aloud for the family. It will inspire you to enjoy your own family as you read about their various adventures, to stand behind your husband (Mr. Pent’s wife never complained but had complete confidence in God’s leading of her husband.) and will encourage you to trust God’s leading in your life.
