Our Family

I Need An Anatomy Course

A  few nights ago, as Serenity and Justus were laying in bed,  I heard Serenity talking to Justus about heaven.  After a little while, Justus started crying.  I decided to check up on the little fellow to see what was making him sad.

He was broken over the thought of leaving our house and never seeing it again when he went to heaven.

I spent some time talking with him about how God is building us another house and will take us to it someday.  He was listening intently and then asked, "Does everyone go to heaven?"

After I answered that he wanted to know,  "How do you become a Christian?"

"When you ask Jesus to come live in your…" and I pointed to where his heart is and said, "heart."

He immediately replied, "No, that’s my lungs.  Daddy said so."

Yep, I think you’re going to be all right son.

Thanks for stopping by Seizing the Moments. It was nice having you! I do hope you'll not be a stranger.

I've certainly enjoyed visiting with you this morning. You have a very nice place and I've enjoyed reading about nature studies and the children. We study along Charlotte Mason's ideas as well. I even subscribed to the ezine. Thanks for sending that tip along.

    Many Blessings!

I had a similar experience with Lydia when she was little. I was telling her about how the earth will burn and be purged from sin. Lydia started crying because her toys were going to be burned too. I tried to explain that she'll have greater treasures in heaven, but all she could focus on in her little girl mind was that her little stuffed puppy and other favorite toys would be burnt to a crisp. I have since learned to have a little more wisdom when it comes to explaining things to little ones.

I have really enjoyed reading your blog today, and this post just cracked me up. I think that's because we all have a child like this…thank you so much for sharing.

My four-year-old has just started asking questions about heaven. Finding answers that are true theologically but understandable to their little minds is not easy. I'm so glad God told us that we must have "faith like a child" or I would always wonder if they could really understand.

    Your blog is delightful.

I love hearing from you! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
