Our 2006 Christmas – Part II
We spent a week in Tucson with my parents and my sister and her family. Mom had an horsdoeurve party on Christmas Eve and we ate and then opened Christmas presents by the warm fire.
Christmas day we had a traditional feast of turkey and the fixins’.
AE had her first up-close encounter with a banty chicken. Looks like she’s enjoying the moment.
The real highlight was the children putting on a play about the birth of Jesus. What a wonderful job they did with only a small amount of practice.
My daughter SH as Mary.
The cast of characters.
My nephew was trying to recruit some of the older children to participate in the play. He came and asked his brother who’s 23 and my son who’s 16 if they wanted to be in it. He said, "You can be anything you want just about – a donkey, a lamb…" They weren’t exactly jumping at the proposition of being a donkey but my son SM finally acquiesced.
After a week of visiting we headed home but had to make one more stop on the way. We had to pick up two little porkers for WE’s and SH’s 4-H projects.
These ones are about 50 pounds.
They grow fast. In about 4 months they will weigh 200+. Stinky critters they are, too!
