Our Family

Having a 3 Year Old is Fun

This is our 3 1/2 year old, JM.

I wanted to record some of the really cute things he’s saying lately.  Last week, when I wasn’t feeling well and being served breakfast in bed, (SH wanted to serve me) JM came to join me. Then SH came too. JM started making a bit of a mess with his eggs on the bed, so I told him he had to go eat in the kitchen with the rest of the family. After he crawled off the bed I realized he could share the bedside tray with me, which was placed at the side of the bed. I asked him if he wanted to share but the little stinker said, “No. You’re making me grumpy.” and off he trotted.

The other day we bought a hoof pick for the horses at the feed store. JM, in all seriousness, said, “ZJ, did you get a toothpick for the horse?”

A few times when asked to do something, he's replied, “I’m unavailable.”  (which had me blinking, wondering “where in the world did he hear that?”)

In trying to minimize any jealous feelings he might have toward his new baby sister we’ve tried to instill in him that he’s to protect his sister. So, when he is supposed to watch her for a moment he'll sometimes say, “AE, I your ’tector.  He says he keeps her from lions and bears.  (We live in quite a dangerous place, wouldn't you say?)

And lastly, he dressed this moose in his p.j.’s the other night when it was time to get ready for bed.  I've never had any of my kids do this kind of thing so it was pretty cute to me.

I have 6 kids and it is most interesting to me how each one is so unique.  Six kids and six completely different personalities.  That in itself is hard for me to believe but yet of all the people in the world God made everyone so distinctive.  What a creative God we serve.

What a cutie! Three is such a wonderful age!

My three year old said something cute last week. I fixed her hair up all pretty and said, “Wow, you look beautiful! I wish I was as cute as you are.” To which she replied, with a very sad, serious look on her face, “I know, but you just AREN’T anymore.”

I have nine, and you are right, they are all very unique!

I love hearing from you! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
