Just for Fun

I've Been Tagged!

The ever helpful Charlotte Mason homeschooling expert Lindafay has tagged me.  This was a challenge for me to do.  It's always so much easier reading someone else's answers than to think of your own!

1) ONE HOMESCHOOLING BOOK YOU HAVE ENJOYED
Teaching the Trivium by Harvey & Laurie Bluedorn

2) ONE RESOURCE YOU WOULDN'T BE WITHOUT

The computer and now that we have Internet I don’t know what we’d do without it!

3) ONE RESOURCE YOU WISH YOU HAD NEVER BOUGHT
Mr. Pipes and the British Hymn Makers

4) ONE RESOURCE YOU ENJOYED LAST YEAR.

Greenleaf’s Guide to Ancient Rome

5) ONE RESOURCE YOU WILL BE USING NEXT YEAR

The Human Body by Dr. Jay Wile

6) ONE RESOURCE YOU WOULD LIKE TO BUY

CLEP Official Study Guide

7) ONE RESOURCE YOU WISH EXISTED

This maybe sounds ridiculous but I wish there was a nature study program for jr. high/high school kids that laid out various activities to do and talked about how to journal what we see.

8) ONE HOMESCHOOLING CATALOGUE YOU ENJOY READING

Catalogue or Magazine? I like the Veritas Press catalog.

9) ONE HOMESCHOOLING WEBSITE YOU USE REGULARLY

Can I say Higher Up and Further In (Lindafay’s blog)?

10) TAG 5 PEOPLE

I'm tagging tiredmom, AussieinAmerica, OHFarmwife,

Wonderland Learning Center and the first person to leave a comment.  Let me know when you've written up your answers so I can come read them.

I saw you listed this as one you would not have bought and I was wondering why you thought that. I had this on my list this year but couldn’t afford it, so I moved it onto the Christmas wish list for my dd, 13y.o.. She loves music and plays the piano and will start violin lessons in a month. I thought because of her interests she would like it. What do you think?

    Hi timbuck2mom,

How about I post something on my blog this week that will give you some ideas for your jr/sr high nature study? I have some resources that I have used with my middle schoolers and I would love to share. Check in on my blog later this week!

I too am curious why you did not like Mr. Pipes. We have read 2 of the 4 books and love them! Of course opinions differ on everything…

Well, I can’t say I have found anything I haven’t liked yet. Quite the contrary. I have found so much I want to do with our children! It is overwelming sometimes because I can’t seem to fit it all in. The freedom we have with homeschooling is so fantastic and so wide open! I wish we had done the same with the older children! The best book I have seen so far is “Chritian Charm Book”. It teaches making the inside a heart surrendered to the Lord and teaches proper ways for a young lady to sit, stand, sew, just the basics. And that runs neck and neck with our chritian science book. Jeanne

Hey, I finished mine! Didn’t have a clue what I was doing but firgured I would try “copy, paste” and there it was! I wish I knew what I was doing on these things I just poke buttons till something happens. Poor computer…LOL Soon it will send the messessage…”Error between keyboard and user, please change out user” Jeanne

I’m just checking in. I hope your dinner went well last week. I forgot to do the tag! I will try to do that tomorrow. I hope you are all well. I’ve been wondering how it all went.

To be honest I don’t remember Mr. Pipes and the British Hymnmakers completely . I know it is about two children who are taught the stories behind many of our hymns by an older man.

It sounds like a great book and I know a lot of magazines recommend it, but for us it just seemed completely boring. I am not the type to throw around the word boring much. I usually can find something interesting about most anything. But this book… it was a different story. I don’t know if it was because my boys were 13 and under or what it was exactly.

OHFarmwife, I was going to mail you my book but when I looked for it I couldn’t find it. I usually keep all my homeschooling purchases just in case I have a change of heart but I think I got rid of this book because we just could not get into it.

I love hearing from you! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
