A Most Embarrassing Moment
Friends4Tea is having a contest. Share your most embarrassing moment and you could win a beautiful little teapot.
My memory is so short (which is probably a blessing sometimes) that this is one of the only moments I could recall.
My husband, who is the song leader at our small church, was having some of the children read Scriptures of their choice aloud to the congregation. Beautiful, inspiriting verses from the Bible had been chosen. Then my son WE, who was about 6 or 7 had us turn to I Kings 1:1-2 for his choice of Scripture.
“Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.
(About this time Im starting to squirm because I know whats coming.)
Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.”
(Yi, yi, yi. Where's the closest place to hide? Talk about squirming and feeling like you're turning all shades of red.)
My husband had to think quickly to come up with something to say after that.
Umm. Im not sure what we learned from that but

I read it aloud to my husband who said… “and here endeth the lesson..” SO FUNNY!
Thank you for your nice comment on my blog. Yes, I am also Mrs. Incredible… the Avonlea blog is my respite to think and for my own thoughts, whereas MrsIncredible is more of a family and homeschooling thing… kinda fun to have two places to post.
I loved your post below, too, about homeschooling and what a blessing we have in it. I am going to add you to my friends list and check back with you!
Thanks!

Is almost a given isn’t it! The first time I embarrassed my own mom at church was when I was 4yo and the children were singing a song at the front of the church. I had a bad habit of rolling up my dresses when I was nervous. I also had a bad habit of biting my nails. Unfortunately I was doing both! I rolled my dress all the way up as high as I could get it and then proceeded to hold it there while I chewed my thumb! Needless to say I was not singing! Poor mom! I am going to try to remember this when my do something embarrassing to me!
Thanks for sharing! All scripture is profitable for reproof, correction, etc! 🙂

I would’ve been looking for a pew to crawl under myself! Heehee! Thank you for sharing your funny moment! I’ve been having such a lot of fun reading all of these!
