Our Family

What Can Wash Away My Sins?

A great devotional our family had one morning was when we took a cup of bleach (explaining that it represented the blood of Jesus) and dropped several drops of red food coloring into it (explaining that this represented our sins).  I also read a story from “Walking with Jesus” by Mary Clemens Meyer.

I read the scripture from Isaiah 1:18
… though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

We then sang a few songs like “What Can Wash Away My Sins”, an old-time gospel song.

It was a special moment of wonder for my children and even for me and my hubby to see how powerful God's bleach is in our life.

IJohn 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Thanks for sharing it. Sounds like a blessed time with your family. My ds5 has been asking me a lot of questions lately, and these object lessons are a wonderful tool. I really just wanted to stop by and say a big warm, “Welcome” to the blogging world! I’m sure you’ll love it. I’m relatively new too, but the folks here have been such a blessing to me.

Feel free to visit my blog sometime. :o)
