Advice Please – Review System Methods for Memorization
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to set up a review system for poems, scriptures, etc.? My kids memorize different things from each other so to set up a review system on index cards would take up a lot of space as they memorized more and more passages. I would like to set it up in a 3 ring binder if possible since I could then just photocopy whatever it is they are memorizing and not have to resize it for an index card.
Also, how does your children work on memorizing verses? How often?
So far, as far as reviewing goes, I have photocopied whatever they are memorizing and placed it in a 3-ring binder under a tab with their name on it. Each child has an assigned day that they recite everything they have learned thus far. This only works for now because they don't have a too large amount to recite, although it sure feels like it sometimes!
Thanks for any suggestions you send my way.

I do a lot of scrapbooking, and they make page protectors that are designed to hold 4X6 pictures. I was thinking that maybe if you used them for the index cards, they would give each child a permanent record of all they have accomplished. You can add photos of them writing them out, or reciting them. They will grow up so quickly and having reminders of your times together will be priceless.

My kids are so young I haven’t faced this yet, although we do Scripture memory with my son, so I should think about it! Preschoolersandpeace not long ago had a post about her memory system. She has an excellent blog and is pregnant with, I think, her 7th.
Thanks for coming by my blog. Yep, it’s 4AM and I’m sleepless!
And thanks for adding me to your friends list- I’ll do the same for you. And welcome to homeschoolblogger!

I saw an idea about this that you could adapt to a binder. It was on simplycharlottemason.com They used a small index card box. They would have dividers for each day of the week and would divide up what they were working on behind those dividers – so they can spead it out instead of doing it all in one day. Then they had a daily section – they put whatever they needed to work on memorizing behind that so they would go over it every day. I can’t remember all of it – but you can find it if you go to their website. They have some other good ideas too.

I was hoping to set up our system without using an index box because I would have to resize everything for the index card.
But I needed to do something quick because I wanted to keep reviewing what the children have already memorized. So I did set up the index card system. I will try to post about it soon.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
