• Preschool Activities

I have a four year old who likes to be included occasionally when we do school.  I know he would love it if I did more things with him but I guess I’m just not organized enough to have activities lined out for him.  I’m of the opinion that it is beneficial to give him something that has learning value.  I don’t want to give him, nor does he want, coloring pages.  What other things can we do?    Here are a few sites I’ve found that have helpful ideas for what to do with preschoolers. Simply Charlotte Mason – Ideas for 3-5 year olds What to Do with Preschoolers by Karen Andreola Higher Up and Further In has some very doable…

  • A Bathroom Cupboard Gets Organized

The challenge deadline is here and now I have to show you the inside of my Mystery Cabinet. The cupboard reaches from the floor to basically the ceiling. BEFORE This was what I found in the upper cabinet:  first aid supplies, 66 light-bulbs(!) and some toiletry items of my son’s. AFTER I purchased this basket and placed all the light-bulbs inside.  The jar is a recycled frappuccino now being used for my son’s toothbrushes and picks. BEFORE In this cupboard I found so many items that did not belong and multiples of others.  Some things discovered were 16 toothbrushes, 7 tubes of toothpaste, a wallet, toys, wooden flute from the Philippines, socks and 2 kinds…

  • My Baby Turned Two! and a Few Other Happenings

I told you we were busy the last week-and-a-half!  On Sunday we celebrated Audrey’s 2nd birthday.   On Monday we sent my sister and her husband on a date for the day.  The girls carried to the car a goody basket we made up for them.   And I got to see what it would be like having 13 kids. (I have 6 and my sister has 7.) Hmmm.  Do I see room for a few more? Well, I think that’s all the catch-up I have to do.  I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well.

  • Celebrating My Girl's 10th Birthday

Two days after Thanksgiving, my Serenity had her 10th birthday.  Serenity has been such a blessing to me with her sweet nature, although her brothers bring out the "other side" once in a while  at least once a day. Just for a bit of fun, on the invitation I asked the girls to dress in pink and green, if they wanted.  Whoever had the most on of these colors would win a prize.  It was so much fun to see them all in similar shades.  I knew there would be no way to choose a winner when they were covered with those two colors, so I chose a name out of the basket to determine the winner.…

  • Thanksgiving 2007

Where do I start?  The last week-and-a-half has been so full.  I’ll just try and hit the highlights of the last week.  My sister and her family arrived from Pennsylvania Sunday night.  My parents and oldest sister, along with her family, arrived on Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday, these three (Seth 17, Serenity 9, & Wesley 12)  went and served Thanksgiving dinner to the elderly.  This was part of their community service for 4-H but they always enjoy doing this.  The elderly are so sweet and happy to talk with the kids.  Seth(ds17) was asked to pray over the meal.  I thought that was wonderful that his light for Jesus shone so brightly that they felt free…
