• Keeping Track of Accomplishments

You may have read on Doug Phillip’s blog this entry about chronicling the Providences of God that occurred in your family in the past year.  One morning around the breakfast table this week we discussed this and I (as the family secretary ) wrote down my family’s replies.  I plan to type it up and place it in a notebook.  Then, hopefully, each year we will add to it. Doing this got me to thinking about what books I had read in 2007 and what projects I had completed.  I was very disappointed that I could think of very little.  Yes, maybe I forgot a few, but I could only think of 2 books that I…

  • Embracing Our Calling

We had a lovely Christmas spent with family; now the new year is here at our doorstep.  Will this year be any different than previous years?  As William Branham said, "Let’s not make resolutions. Let’s ask for mercy and grace" and as Ann V at Holy Experience says,"Without the Babe who came to the barn, who didn’t hesitate to meet us in the rotting mess of our sin, the new year would only be a rehashing of the old year." I feel so inspired by two resources I purchased recently.  The DVD Return of the Daughters and the book Passionate Housewives Desperate for God. At first I wasn’t going to purchase…

  • Traditions and the Six Wise Men

The holiday season is here along with all the excitement, hustle and bustle and decorations.  The little ones get so excited at our house about the little decorating we do (a string of white lights on our ficus tree, nativity set and a winter village).   Interestingly enough, I found out this year how much our little traditions have meant to my daughter.  For instance, I usually try to send out a Christmas picture and newsletter.  I’m not planning to this year and Serenity has expressed her disappointment a few times.  Believe me, I didn’t think anyone would miss doing a Christmas picture.  They’re usually not too fun and that’s an understatement! …

  • Messy Cupboard Scores a Second Place Win

Despite all  my good intentions I have not posted in over a week.  I had some happy news to share, too!  I won 2nd place in Lara’s of I’m an Organizing Junkie contest!  Yes, this news is two weeks old but since I embarrassed myself showing you how messy I can be I figured you might as well know it paid off. For winning 2nd place I get a set of organizing bags.  Thanks, Lara for putting on this challenge.  It was a great motivator.

  • My Get-A-Way at the Canyon

Last week my dh took me to the Grand Canyon for two days.  When we have these little get-a-ways I always bring along some book that we can read together.  This time, along with my overflowing book bag,  I took the video series Financial Freedom by Jim Sammons which I purchased from Vision Forum.  They are very good!  Mr. Sammons does not give you a formula on how to get rich as so many financial books do, but instead talks about God’s principals and how we should view the money we have as God’s money and to give it all back to Him and not hold on to it in our hearts.  He tells his…
