Week in Review 1/9/11 – 1/16/11
This weekend we headed to Tucson to enjoy a time of gospel singing with about 800 others. It was absolutely wonderful the one night I was there. The other 2 nights I was home with sick children. 🙁 Oh well, dem’s the breaks. Here’s a snapshot of a portion of the crowd. Musicians who played at various times. Late nights – 1-2 a.m. because the kids didn’t want to stop visiting. I don’t have their stamina so I turned in early a few evenings:) Wesley my 15 year old. Sunday we ate at the shopping plaza where Gabrielle Giffords and many others were either injured or killed. This was on the street…

A Biblical Theme
Since we were having our first youth Bible study at our house last week, I thought I would try to put a Bible themed centerpiece together for our breakfast table. I’m not sure if I succeeded or if it looks like it’s time to go caroling. The little village church was started by me and finished by my mother several years ago. I placed a quote of Bro. William Branham’s beside it, reminding us all to read our Bible every day. Red goblets would be so pretty with these dishes. Anyone know of a good source for these kinds of things at a reasonable price? I would want 12.

Whole Wheat Flour vs. White Flour
No doubt about it, whole wheat flour is the way to go. If you need any convincing just read this well-written article by Annie Tumlin. White Flour vs Whole Wheat Flour: White vs Wheat, Bleached vs Unbleached Differences All my pancakes, muffins, biscuits and cakes are made using 100% whole wheat pastry flour. Don’t mistake that with the stuff you buy at the grocery store – stoneground whole wheat flour. Whole wheat pastry flour is lighter than the regular whole wheat flour and is good for quickbreads. It would not be for yeasted breads since it is low in gluten. High gluten flour is used for making sandwich breads. I would also recommend buying your…

Organizing Table Linens
When I looked in my kitchen cupboard and saw this… I decided something needed to change. So I took my linens and hung them up using pant hangers and regular hangers. I first thought I would place them in our guest bedroom closet but decided that wouldn’t work if I had guests staying overnight. You savvy? I finally settled on hanging them in our coat closet. Sometime I’ll change the hangers so they all match because it’s really bugging me but for now it is what it is. Edited to say: I thought, “Why procrastinate? Just change the hangers!” So for your viewing pleasure, here are the matching hangers. It’s the little things, people. 🙂…

Week in Review 12/31/10 – 1/8/11
Backtracking a little… The end of 2010 finished with a real cold snap. We kept our wood-stove burning and I kept my toes warm wearing socks all day. I don’t like cold feet! We even had snow – not bad for Arizona, wouldn’t you say? View from the front of our house. The kids love it when we get a snowfall. Sandi didn’t mind it one little bit either. My precious parents spent a few days with us after visiting family in Tucson, before they headed home. The snow was here for a good week and the kids took advantage of it. Went hiking in beautiful Sedona… with a family that…
