• Good Times with Family

Thanksgiving 2013 has come and gone but the memories we do have remind us of how wonderful it is to have family and friends.  I am so thankful for God’s hand in my life and my family.  I am also so thankful for the family of God and that includes YOU! Thanksgiving this year was at my big sis’s house. Thanksgiving outdoors? Yes! It truly was warm enough.   Our Thankful Tree even showed up.    My niece made homemade marshmallows.  In the past I’ve wondered how they could be that different from packaged ones from the store but they really are! They are SO much better. Really good! …but…

  • A Non-Traditional Thanksgiving Meal

Thanksgiving – a wonderful time to be with family and depending on the year, some friends, too. This year (like last year), our oldest won’t be here. My oldest that has been spending half the year (it feels like) in the Great White North has once again left for a second year with helping some friends in their commercial ice fishing operation. (Click on the links to see some of his past trips – it’s pretty interesting) Zachary, who was married this past May won’t be with us on Thanksgiving either.  I may have to adopt the Canadian Thanksgiving just to have my whole family here.  Thanksgiving in October? –…

  • Chalkboard Project – Inside the Kitchen Cupboards

EDITED: Be sure to see what I changed at the bottom of this post.   Well I am so excited to share with you this project.  I just love how it turned out! Remember this project where I painted sheet metal with chalkboard paint?  I’m still loving it. I got the idea to do the same thing on the inside of one of my kitchen cupboards. In the past I have taped recipes that I use frequently on the left hand cupboard and that has been something I’ve really liked. These are recipes that I use over and over and having them taped on the inside of the cupboard has…

  • Make Your Own Chalkboard Scoreboard

Is it age? I don’t know but I’ve noticed that whenever we’re playing walleyball we seem to short circuit when it comes to knowing what the scores are, so I got the idea to add a chalkboard scoreboard in our walleyball court. (Wondering what a walleyball court is?  It simply is a racquetball court but you can also play walleyball using the court.  It’s a real sport and it’s lots of fun.  Check it out.) Simple and easy my project was but word of warning!  Be sure that when you spray that you are more careful than I was about the overspray.  🙂  Eek! I did do a bit of…

  • When You Feel Like Putting Your Kids in Public School

It wasn’t that long ago that people would say, “Homeschooling?  What is that?” Homeschooling was not talked about much until the 80’s, although there were already articles and books being written on the problems of traditional education in the 60’s and 70’s from a few notables such as John Holt and Dr. Raymond Moore.  Dr. Dobson even had a program with Dr. Moore back in 1979 but it wasn’t until the 80’s that homeschooling really started to become a movement. So homeschooling in the way that we know it today really hasn’t been around a very long time.  Many battles have been fought to give us this right to teach…
