• Seeing the Special in the Everday

I didn't feel too well Monday morning.  So, as I lay abed with two pillows at my head, my little girl, SH age 8, first brought me a get well balloon –   and then… breakfast in bed.   With this kind of treatment I rapidly felt better. How blessed I am to have such a sweet, thoughtful girl.  Girls naturally fulfill the nurturing role much better then boys do.  SH is always thinking about us around lunch time.  Many times she supplies the fuel that keeps us going mid-day – as evidenced by this picture. I am blessed.  How often I overlook that fact in my days.  One of my problems, (I won't tell you how many…

  • Review of The Secret Garden

Our family just finished reading the book The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I was so disappointed and I admit, a little shocked, at some of the passages in this book. I have heard great reviews on this book through the years and cannot remember hearing anything negative about it. This causes me to wonder if I’m the only one that has major reservations on whether our children should read this book.  One of the worst chapters we read was titled “Magic”. If this isn’t like witchcraft but in disguise, I don’t know what could be. Colin, the boy who has been bedridden since he was born, is taken…

  • Is This for Real???

Can this really be true?  I don't know but I thought it was too funny not to share with you.   Check out your salad closely before buying or eating – – and perhaps next time when someone says “soup or salad” – – say SOUP!  J   Check out the bag below….       Don’t forget this brand of fresh lettuce!  What probably happened is, the water the lettuce was washed in contained polliwogs and these became fresh new frogs, right in the packages . So if you are looking for salad fixins with a little more body, then be sure and try this brand.   Soup or Salad……

  • Photos of our Elk Hunt – October, 2006

Well I am finally able to get some of our hunting pictures posted.  If you want to read about our elk hunting trip it's here under the title Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jig.   The first night at camp everyone brings enough soup for their family and then we set it up like a smorgasbord and get to try all the different soup's.       At hunting camp we have a great time -the kids get to do some puttering around on the quads (when they're not being used for hunting),     play with friends   and cousins (WE age 11, EJ age 10).   We even got to…
