• Make Your Own Burp Cloths

I don’t know what exactly inspired me to try making burp cloths but for whatever reason I decided to make some.  I found inspiration online.  As always!  Barb at A Chelsea Morning had some that she had made that I thought were adorable and then I found Laundry Monster on Etsy who has a great variety for sale and they are cute!  Here are the ones I made. My supplies were: Pre-folded Birdseye Diapers 1/4 – 1/2 yard fabric – depending on how many burp cloths you would like to make (I chose flannel instead of cotton because I’m thinking the spit-up from the baby will absorb better, but it may…

  • Kitchen Duties for Children After Mealtime

No Weekly Review today since not much happened around here last week and therefore, not too many pictures were taken.  I was busy getting some Christmas gifts together that I can’t even tell about because I have to keep them secret.  shhh… So, in lieu of my Weekly Review that I usually do on Monday’s, I thought I would tell you how our family does kitchen chores after each meal.  It works quite well with our family of 6 children. First off I wrote down a list of jobs that needed to be done when each meal was over… clear table put food away wipe off counters sweep floor load dishwasher put food preparatory…

  • Week in Review 11/14 – 12/4 Part II

Continuing on with our PA trip…                Part I can be found here.  Hope you enjoy. Valley Forge was our first stop.   Valley Forge is where Washington stayed for the winter of 1777-1778.  The American army was in bad shape with many having no shoes and very little food.  Washington wrote of the Army saying that if things did no change they must, “Starve, dissolve, or disperse, in order to obtain subsistence in the best manner they can.”  For the lack of nourishment and proper clothing and because of the crowded and damp conditions, disease swept through the troops with 2,000 men dying that winter. Valley Forge was so named because there was a forge there…

  • Working on a Winter Mantle

Over the weekend I started working on decorating my mantle for winter.  Until a few months ago I had not changed my mantle decor for years.  Yep, you read that right.  Years.  But I liked how it looked and wasn’t thinking about changing it seasonally.  So decorating my mantle for the winter season is new territory to me. I got the idea for this gate from Funky Junk Interiors.  Here is her gate here. We had this old fencing we picked up several years ago for a homeschool co-op day we had.  I wanted to save it but it has slowly been being used for firewood.  Fortunately, we still had…

  • Week in Review 11/14 – 12/4 Part I

Russ and the boys were elk hunting the week before we went to Pennsylvania. He managed to get this bull elk the last day of the hunt with his muzzleloader. It’s not a trophy but still a decent sized one. Then it was off to Pennsylvania for 10 days… Audrey and Justus were quite excited to fly in an airplane. This wasn’t their first time but the first time they could remember actually doing it. Upon our arrival my sister had goody bags for each of us… So organized to get that all together and very very thoughtful. Of course there was an abundance of food… Truly. 🙂 Music almost…
