• Found: Couch Just for You

Lately I’ve found a few items that were left on the side of the road for the garbage man – left behind by tenants who had been renting from us.  Blame it on Thrifty Decor Chick,  Centsational Girl,  My Repurposed Life or a dozen others but they inspire me with their do it yourself techniques.  So, I’m going to try a few things on these little “treasures” or are they “junk”(?).  I suppose that remains to be determined but I’m excited about trying.    So yesterday I get a call from my son who just happens to be out in the woods bear hunting.  He said, “Mom,  we just seen a couch out here in…

  • Outdoor Storage Benches

I have been searching for a solution for our outdoor shoes for a LONG time.  Living in the country and feeding animals daily we have stinky, smelly & sometimes muddy shoes that we do not want to bring indoors.  I had my son build me an outdoor shoe rack as part of a woodworking project and I loved the finished product it but it’s under repair at the present moment (disrepair caused by age & weather) and I don’t know if I’ll ever see it again. 🙂  So, I’m getting desperate and am starting to look online for a solution. Here are some outdoor solutions I found.  Which one is your favorite?…

  • Menu Plan Monday – April 18/2011

With Last week’s menu plan the Drip Beef and Pasta Carbonara, both from Pioneer Woman, were well received.  I have to admit that I, myself wasn’t overly impressed with the Pasta Carbonara so I’ll probably look for another version of this recipe. Because of our trip to Tucson last week, I didn’t make some of the meals I had planned; so I will be using them this week.   Monday – Great Grandma’s Beef Pie (THIS recipe shows up again.  I didn’t get to avoid this all together. 🙂 ) Tuesday – Curried Spinach & Chickpea Soup – recipe found in the magazine Clean Eating Wednesday – Salisbury Steak, Thursday – Pork Souvlak, Chopped Greek Salad Friday…

  • Week in Review 4/10 – 4/16/11

Most people are amazed that chicks can be shipped through the mail but how about bees?  Zachary ordered 20,000 of them and has officially become a beekeeper.  I’ll show you more in a future post. This is half of the bees. Zachary & all his assistants. With a visit to Tucson this week I was able to see for the first time my new little grand niece. She is so precious and adorable. Can’t you tell? 🙂 We had a celebration of wedding anniversaries while there – ours is this Friday (22 years) and my sister’s is Sunday (30 years). My good friend, Tina, hosted a dinner in her backyard…

  • My Very Own Moss Covered Letter

I really wish I were crafty and original but “I yam what I yam”.  (Now why did Popeye spring up in my memory? 🙂 )  I’m so glad for those of you who are really clever and and are able to think of ways you can make just about anything you see that would normally cost mucho buckaroos if you were to buy it at retail.  Thanks for sharing your creative talents and letting the rest of us learn from you. Felt So Cute was where I saw a tutorial for how to make these cute moss covered letters.  I spotted this tutorial “Games to Go” on her site.  What a totally cute project.  Now if you really don’t…
