• A Few of the Happenings in January with Family and Friends

I was very blessed this Dec./Jan. to have my sister and her family.  They were here for a month, splitting their time between Tucson and our place. One day Audrey and Bethany (my sister’s girl) decided to go on a hike.  Audrey packed them some snacks and away they went. They hiked quite a ways up the hill near our house before we got a phone call on the cell phone asking to be picked up.  Those girls had some stamina! Unsure of what they would need, they gathered some unusual items for their “back packs”. 🙂  We didn’t get a picture of everything but some other items they took were frozen strawberries.  So cute…

  • Serenity’s 14th Golf Par-Tee

Yes, Serenity’s birthday was clear back in November but we just had her birthday celebration the end of December. We decided to go with a mini-golf theme since Serenity wanted to go somewhere that had go-karts, etc. I made these invitations using Printmaster for the letters the green and then I used skewers and foam for the flag and balls. My mom and I laughed so hard watching the kids ride the bumper boats.  They were soaked!   After an afternoon at the Funtasticks Park, we went back to my sister’s house for a golf themed supper I had prepared. Then the ultimate golf cake was presented by none other than Martha – our own…

  • Then We Had a 2nd Christmas

After Christmas with my parents, we had a 3 day Christmas get-together with Russell’s family.  (We usually spend one Christmas with my family and the following year, we have Christmas with my in-laws but like I said in my last post, things were different this year.) There were 49 of us I believe.  My father-in-law, who is 81, is sitting in the chair and is a complete miracle after being ran over by a good Samaritan who was stopping to help him when his vehicle broke down. Orin is the latest addition to the family… and absolutely adorable!  And… at the time… the latest couple who is to be wed.…

  • A Nature Inspired Christmas Tablescape

We had Christmas with mom and dad here at my house. Ten of us.  Pretty small since we normally have my sisters and their families but things just happened to work out that way this year. Since I didn’t have any Christmassy dishes, I decided to go with a tablescape that had more of a nature look. I decided to use a toolbox my boys had made when they were little as my centerpiece.  I filled the toolbox with some juniper branches, poked some red material around the base of the branches, added a poinsettia and a bit of cranberry garland.  I loved how it turned out. For our Christmas Dinner we had: Grilled…

  • Our Christmas Tea with Mom

Hey, Hey!  What a holiday season it has been!  Activities and family… so much going on. While mom was here over the holiday season, we had our “tea” with the china tea set she gave me.    A special drink for the non-tea drinkers.   We’re not fancy when it comes to having our tea, we just like the thought of having one, but I thought mom looked pretty cute in her borrowed hat. Any kind of hat attire is appropriate at our teas. 🙂  Hmmm, let’s see we had a proper hat but then we also had a pirate hat, a sombrero and some waving mistletoe perched over Serenity’s head. Tea…
