• A Little of This n That

Zachary, Serenity and Justus went with me to town yesterday along with 4 of our puppies.  I parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot and quickly made my escape ran in to do some much needed shopping while they opened the back hatch of the Suburban and hung out a Free Puppy sign.  Lo and behold when I came back out to the car 30 minutes later the last puppy was leaving.  I was quite amazed at how quickly they went.  We have 3 more to go since we’re keeping one.  Justus my 4yo was quite the little salesman.  He would tell people, "The puppies are free; you take one." …

  • My Mom's Skills Displayed

Aren’t these dresses beautiful?  All made by my mother who says she cannot sew.  I can’t imagine what she could make if she knew how to sew. This is not the best picture with all the sun spots but these are the dresses they wore while in Virginia.  My little colonial girls. She’s made several dresses for Serenity’s doll. Matching nightgowns. Sewing, at this point in my life, is not a big interest for me.  I’m so glad my mom enjoys it.  We really benefit from her skills.  When my mom comes to visit I always ask her to do my mending for me.     If she didn’t do my mending my kids…

  • Back from our Journey

We’re home again after traveling over 5,000 miles.  What a wonderful time we had from seeing old friends to visiting historic places.  Virginia was so interesting.  I HIGHLY recommend reading Stories of the Old Dominion that I mentioned in a previous post before traveling to Virginia.  It covers all the highlights and main characters who were instrumental in the establishment of our great country and a few others besides.  The book is written from a Christian perspective. Vision Forum outdid themselves preparing for the week-long event.  The fireworks they shot off on Saturday night was unlike anything we’ve ever seen.  Absolutely incredible. I was somewhat familiar with the history of our founding fathers…

  • Virginia Here We Come

We are off!  After planning for several months our trip to the Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg area in Virginia, we’re finally off!  We’re going to be part of the week-long celebration that Vision Forum has put together.  Afterwards we will be doing some touring on our own. I’ve been reading to the children a book I bought through Vision Forum called Stories of the Old Dominion by John Esten Cooke.  It was written in 1879 by Mr. Cooke to his two boys.  It is well written, very interesting and informative.  I definately recommend it. If you want to read more about our travels on this trip go to Lovin’ to Travel,…
