  • A Home Life that Nourishes – Taking the Road Less Traveled

    May 17, 2017 / No Comments

Does it seem as if I’m stuck on this topic of the home life? I’ve written about the subject twice recently. First when I talked about having a vision for your family and then why we should keep a tidy home. I can’t help it. I feel very passionate about the home and the importance of it. If you’re a homemaker I’m sure you also realize how important the home life is. There is nothing that can compare with the influence and shaping that our homes can have on our children. Home Life is Vital to Our Children Home is so important but yet it’s so easy to lose sight…

  • When Family Vacations and Adventure Meet

    May 13, 2017 / 6 Comments

For some a family vacation means relaxed times, togetherness and memories being made. For us, it means adventure, nerve wracking situations, togetherness and lots of memories. The thought was a grand one. Let’s have our first ever vacation with our married children and their spouses. We knew we had only a short window of opportunity since Seth & Jessica would be headed back to Canada. Life was quite busy with giving them an Arizona reception, then I was unwell and so we waited for the right time. Lake Powell was the first destination of choice but the weather turned cold and we had to go with Option B which was…

We have been so blessed to have the newlyweds here for the last month.  I think they’re enjoying their stay in the newly completed cabin (VRBO) very much, so we’re happy about that. Their stay here is coming to an end since they leave next week for the east and then up to Canada. I have so enjoyed having them here and getting to know my daughter-in-law, Jessica better. She’s a sweetheart with the most giving heart, always bringing over something for us whether it be a fresh batch of cookies from the oven, a fresh baked loaf of bread or some juicy watermelon cut up on a plate for…

  • Days Slip Into Years – A 14th Birthday

    May 1, 2017 / No Comments

Yesterday Justus turned 14. Fourteen years ago when he was born we didn’t know what to name him. My husband wanted one name, I wanted another and they were both somewhat similar – Justus or Judah.  So the baby boy went about 4 days to a week without a name. I would lean over and talk to him in my mommy voice. You know the one I’m talking about – all syrupy and sing-song,  alternating between calling him Justus and Judah hoping I would “feel” it. Judah felt too harsh and so Justus it was. He has been a remarkable son. I love his witty sense of humor, his inventors…

  • Learning About Indoor Salad Gardens with the Castle Keeper Girls

    April 28, 2017 / No Comments

Yesterday marked the last class for the 2016-2017 Castle Keeper year. It was a great way to end the year being outside and learning about growing an indoor salad garden.  Click on picture to be taken to Amazon. Some sample sprouted seeds that we all got to sample.     Seeds soaking in water waiting to be drained, rinsed and planted.   Preparing the gardening bed.       Soil, compost & kelp mixture       Once your seeds have been planted, you cover them with wet newspaper. When you water your seeds you just put the water directly onto the newspaper. Easy peasy.   These girls couldn’t resist…
