• February Round-up

Since I’m quite behind in posting I’ll just give a quick round-up of some of the happenings in February. My niece got married and both Seth and Zachary were ushers.  They were not too keen on wearing pastel pink ties with little pink hankies but they made it through. Here Seth is surrounded by his cousins. We had enough snowfall that the kids were able to make a few snowmen. (Kinda looks like a polar bear to me.) A few families from Canada came to visit so we played tourist with them. Here we are at Devil’s Bridge in Sedona.  *Notice* I am not on the bridge but safely on the ground.  But my…

  • Rather Late Valentine Post

Yes, it is March 12 and I’m just now posting what we did for Valentine’s Day.  I had so much fun planning everything. The day before I made these cute cards I found on someone’s blog.  (Unfortunately, I can’t give credit since all of that info was saved on my Blogger dashboard that I cannot access.) Cupcakes and sugar cookies with messages written on the back. Everyone found these cards at breakfast time next to their plate. But the supper meal was where I was wanting to plan something unique for our family. I wanted it to be simple and I wanted to serve the meal in different rooms of our house…

  • Review of A Life That Says Welcome

A Life That Says Welcome Written by: Karen Ehman 235 pages Publisher: Revell For many people offering hospitality is a daunting prospect. There are many excuses offered such as, "I don’t know how to cook," My house is too small," or "My husband and I are not extroverts. What would we talk about?" Hospitality is a Biblical mandate though and one that we must learn to embrace with joy. In the book A Life That Says Welcome Karen takes a look at what hospitality means and gives examples from the Bible of those who displayed a welcoming heart. "A Life That Says Welcome helps you make others feel refreshed,…

  • A Simple Valentine's Day Supper & A Few Ideas

I’ve been mulling over what to do special for Valentine’s Day, which will be on Friday for us, and I think I’ve finally figured out what we’re doing. I usually only do something special in the morning time at breakfast. We’ll still do that. I have some gifts I bought at one of the big wholesale warehouses after Christmas. They were on clearance and I snatched them up. For hubby he gets chocolate covered nuts. For the children, mugs filled with a variety of candy (we do NOT need any more candy – this has really got to stop!), wrapped in cellophane and tied with a bow. They were…

  • Tackle it Tuesday #142

An old trunk. What treasure? What heirloom could it be holding? Oh, I must find out! Aggghhh! What is this MESS?! A game trunk that needs Organization. It happened one evening my little ones and some other small visitors had a lot of [choke, choke] fun seeing how many games they could pull out. Havoc was wreaked. This has nagged me for weeks but I determined to tackle it this week. I bought a few plastic storage containers. Two big ones that will store 2 or 3 games each (depending on the size) and a smaller shoe box size one to hold card games. My thinking is that if…
