Trying Our Hand At Mosaic Art
Mosaics have been found as early as 3rd century BC in Greece. In these times they were used to decorate floors. It wasn’t until the 4th century AD that this changed when Christians began to use mosaics to decorate the walls of their churches instead. Here are a few mosaics found from the 4th century. This one was found in an ancient Roman villa and is only a partial view. The detail is amazing. Pictures were found at Wikimedia and Classical Mosaics. If you want to see more just visit those links. Tackle It Tuesday #150
I’ve been out of the tackle loop for awhile but I’m back for this week’s Tackle #150. This week’s tackle was all about the Kitchen where I spend an inordinate amount of time. What might happen if you live in the country with plenty of open space around with room for lots of people? Why you just might play host to a Civil War reenactment group! That is exactly what happened here at the homestead this past Saturday, March 14. A group of 50 reenactors came and reenacted 2 battles to about a 100 of us homeschoolers. They also gave about 25 boys a chance at becoming a soldier, complete with uniforms and guns which I think was the best thing about it all. Unfortunately, the weather was not a typically beautiful Arizona day. At one point we had a lot of people crammed into the…

Another March Birthday
Eleven days after my birthday Zachary has his on the 12th. How many boy’s would be this excited to get a pitch fork for their birthday? Thank goodness he was easy to please. It gets kind of hard trying to think of meaningful gifts that don’t cost an arm and a leg. (Pitch forks only cost an arm.) Zachary, Your exuberance for life is something to behold. You are a great example to your siblings and even me. Keep walking with He who will lead you into paths of righteousness and everything will be alright. Happy 17th Birthday!
